I was born at an early age and after both my parents died before I was three, I soon discovered that there are things in this world that don't appear to be as they really are. My fascination with misdirection and creative fibbing logically led me to the wonderful world of Magic. Cards, being the most handy tools, have been my friends for many years. People play cards and someone always asks if anyone knows a "trick". My interest in Magic was strong enough to compel me to learn of and practice basic card slights; bottom deals, seconds, using locator cards, and shuffling techniques to locate cards. Then I began to learn mentalist type effects. Mainly simple variations on elimination forces. I purchased Mark Wilson's Cyclopedia of Magic for $1 at a second hand store. Best $1 I ever spent. I've been working my way through it and it has re-lit the fire in my belly (Belly Fire, a local term).
I have a strong interest in Photography and digital image alteration. Once again a form of Magic. I am currently studying the art of 3-D Photography and it's application via the .gif format, as well as the classic stereo viewer.
A vow has been made by me to learn the DreamWeaver program inside out by years end, so that combined with digital photography I will be able to create, maintain, and host websites.
The renewed interest in Magic that I have is two-fold. Working in the Chiropractic field I've recently realized the importance of spreading positive energy, enabling people to feel good and smile. Few things I can think of, Music being one, can influence people as quickly and strongly as Magic. Aside from spreading goodwill, I intend to use Magic to break the ice and sell myself to potential clients. If people buy you, they will buy your wares, whatever they be.
My hopes for joining this forum are to get a heads up on which texts are best to study, learn the history of the art, the psychology of the art, and share whatever I can with those that can learn from me.

Welcome to TM - best advice to start with is to check through the Review postings as many of the aspects you mention have been discussed at one time or another - although perhaps sometimes from a different angle than you might expect. :D

There's a very broad membership base on TM and I'm sure someone will be able to offer a few tips or point you in appropriate directions in due course.
