What would you do if luck is on your side?

Imagine you have handed the pack to a spectator and you ask them to name a card as they shuffle. The particular trick you have in mind doesn't require a specific card to be chosen so it doesn't matter which card they name. However, as they hand you the pack, you notice that their freely selected card happens to be on the bottom or top of the deck. This is an extremely lucky position to be in but where would you go from here to create the miracle this piece of good fortune deserves?

I would suggest Thought of Card Under Watch but would be very interested to hear your ideas.

I would do a hands-off force of the card and tweak the person's memories of the process (while emphasizing that they shuffled and I didn't touch the deck) before revealing the card.

That, or palm the card while handing the deck to another spectator to further shuffle before having them count through the cards (dealing them face up onto a surface). Any good production would be a miracle at this point.

I've actually had something similar happen to me before. I had my friend shuffling through the cards, which were some fancy Ghost Deck or something, and he commented how cool the ace of spades must look after accidentally seeing one of the jokers (the artwork on those cards was awesome).

When he handed me the deck, I got a little peek at the bottom card. Lo and behold, the ace of spades. I quickly palmed it out, turned over the deck and slipped it in face up as the second card from the top. I said something like "So you think the ace of spades would be cool, eh?" He said yes, so I flipped the deck back casually and did a nice little colour change.

Made it look like the ace had just appeared before his eyes on top of the deck. I think that was the first time I ever used a colour change actually, never really used it since.

Sometimes you just get lucky!

I would not touch the deck again, I would have them keep hold of it and hold it out face down so that I can just hold my hand over the deck silently for a few seconds whilst breathing deeply.
I would give them no recourse to say that I did anything to the deck at all, the I couldn't have an opportunity to do so, and then let them take the card from the deck.

if they'd had said it out loud, i'd have copped the card...then let others shuffle it etc...

the reveal would depend on "who" you are...

Milk it for all its worth.
At a recent wedding i performed Anniversary waltz,as i always do for the bride and groom at every wedding, not only did i get the usual gasps,i got the extra kicker gasps when they told me that the date of their engagement was in fact the 29th of july the previous year, and how the hell did she pick the 2 and he pick the 9 and more importantly how did i know it was the 29th.
"Im supposed to know those things im a magician" was my reply.and i walked away even more pleased than usual.

Ive heard quite a few stories over the years of things like this happening, and you normally get the same response from the magicians,as i stated earlier "Milk it for all its worth"

I do James Browns Reverse Engineering and it is a lovely moment if the card they call is the one in your pocket.

and if you use a breather's crimp, the chances of all this happening increases a fair bit...

Along the same line of thinking I'd perform Mr Browns Think Triumph.
