Buxton Magic Circle

Postby Kai Burton » Aug 4th, '10, 16:42

Hello friends.

Myself and a fellow Magician are looking at forming Buxton Magic Circle. Now this is an idea that I have been toying with for quite a few years now, but I didn't have the first clue where to start. My associate has numerous contacts in the magic world who will prove invaluble to our venture, however, I would still appreciate any ideas or advice that you guys may have.

Thankyou in advance!

Best advice I can offer, (and I've been a member of several magic clubs and was the TVP of the SAM in Vancouver) start small and relaxed, get a few folks together, choose a meeting place have dinner once a month and share some magic. Once you have a routine then you can make it official like going to the IBM and getting official ring status. The problem is some clubs get bogged down in rules, by-laws and such that you are at the meeting for 45 minutes before there is any magic, which equals loss of members.

I'm back in Buxton for the next month or two whilst I train, so if you get a casual meeting or two going I'd be up for attending, definately.

We'd also like to hear from people who would be interested in helping us set the whole thing up. Obviously, the closer that you live to Buxton, the better!

Hahaa! The swan wouldn't be a bad place for a first meeting, its almost like a cave. Very magical!

Indeed the Swan would make an excellent venue! However, I think that I'd end up crawling home from the meetings!

I'd be happy to come and lecture for expenses when you're up and running.

Hi,

I'm in Stone, Staffordshire and would be delighted to get together with some likeminded people in Buxton - it's not a million miles away and the scenery is a lot nicer than Stoke-On-Trent!

Keep us posted!!
