Whats your style

Postby Magic_MockingBird » May 3rd, '05, 01:48

What is ur style. I like Alain Nu's style but I cant find many of his tricks. So my style would be more like david blane street magic. I also like the style on ellusionst.com.

Do any of you people have ur own style. I dont becuase I'm not that skilled of magican. I have a question as well. What is an abomtios card rutine. I'm not sure exacltly how to spell. I've seen a post on file sharing but it wont work for me. I would like it if you would upload your vidoes on putfile.com

Back to the topic If you could find anything on ther styles that i metoined I would like that very much.

I haven't been with magic for that long but so far Jay Sankey is my inspiration. Right now I'm working with basic card tricks, I know if I last at one second past the one week mark, I'll be hooked onto magic. I like to try a lot of things and things I don't find to entertaining I give up.
But magic... I got a really good feeling I'll be here for a loooong time.

Regards,
Mat

I'm not sure exacltly how to spell.

How about running your posts through a spellchecker? If you don’t have Word or other programs which have spellcheckers then try creating the message as an e-mail, use the spellchecker and then copy and paste it onto TM.

I've seen a post on file sharing but it wont work for me

Don't worry, it won't work for anyone! Following the recent hacker attack, that part of TM has been suspended whilst repair work goes on.

depends on the mood I, and the audience are in, i mainly go for the darker mentalism feel, no gay david blaine acting, I do 90% of my magic in clubs or pubs so i also like to get a bit of playful humorus style as well, always good with the ladys ;), the ambitious card rountine is a classic card repeatedly returning to the top of the deck through many different techniques, check out penguin magic's oz pealmans vid 'born to perform' it has the basic version with a couple little extras explained. peas jay

Magicmockingbird,

I think others will agree with me here, your style is YOU.

If you want to be Blaine, or Brown or Danniels then that will be the style you thieve.

Develop your own that suits you, and is you. Then you can start performing for people, and entertaining them. Entertain in your own way, and enjoy it. I've never had to think that my way is someone else's, I just do it my way (Is a song coming on here !!) 8) You have one personality, yours :D

lol kems !

I guess that's how we all start... personality comes through once you are comfortable with technique and can focus on presentation.

Excellent work Kems. :P

Seriously though, to create a convincing and confident performance is hard enough by itself so if you’re trying to act and copy a certain style on top of all that I think you’re giving yourself needless problems.

Mine exactly....

I have a friend who's just started on magic (lent him Born To Perform) who is the other way round...has trouble with the technical side of things but can think up the best patter ideas ever...hrmm.

That's tricky - cos i perform for adults and children and I find my style changes. With kids I'm a clown disguised as a magician - but there's a serious side as well - not sure how to descibe it. With adults I guess I'm just myself (although I'm like that with kids - I just exaggerate it a bit).

I must agree with you taneous. With kids I have a different personality. But my adult shows are my own style. Serious guy who who's mind is just not quite there. Can be a bit scary at times. Especially when I go to great lengths to Escape in an Escapology Challenge. My Style is basically "The Matrix" meets "Psycho" with a bit of "Hanibal" Thrown in for the pleasure of it.

An ambitious card is one that you would put in the card, and it always comes out, even after shuffles, and so fourth. The card is usally signed.

As for style, I'm not sure. I do street magic, and when I perform for people, I find I have found my way of performing, at first, like for most, I really didn't know what to say, it felt like there were long awkward silences, and so fourth. And as I got more confident I just started being myself.
