So what? I couldn't care less if something is done all with camera/tv effects in front of a stooged audience. When it airs on TV, people's jaws are in their coffee and in every workplace the next day, there's only one topic of conversation. Job's a good 'un.

Which should be the gauge for any magical effect!

Obviously ones with an ounce of sense who didn't bother themselves with the method, but the effect

What irked me was the fact that so many of the clips came from Stuff the White Rabbit - indicating that it's easy to get the rights to use material from the show in a time-filling compilation programme, but impossible to repeat the show in its original format or release it on DVD.

Poo.

Effects that should be added?

Portal needs to be added, as does Vanishing the Statue of Liberty (a world record holder). I also think The Oracle Act needs to be added, but then again that might associate it with magic.

Well, given that it is a magic act, what's the problem?

Well the Oracle Act needs to be in the top 10 in my opinion. Anyone else agree?

While I have to agree it's a beautifully done Q&A and the use of dual reality propelled it even further.... it doesn't really stand out as something that captured the public's imagination. Essentially it was 'just' mind reading, it's what he does all the time, just in a different context. I imagine most people saw it, were amazed but it wasn't so 'new' a concept from Derren to make people oooh and aaah.

Edit: Had his lottery prediction been anything but rubbish then that should make the top 10 if we were to produce a new list. But it was rubbish.

I agree that a Q and A routine could be included, but not necessarily Derren's. It wasn't anything ground breaking.

one teensy weenzy bit of tech was.

but overall, i think that the point of the routine was to re create the old swami, reader shows of the 1920s.

I didn't like the vanishing space shuttle. There I said it. And Malinda's drill thingy was almost as bad. But that is just an opinion. Sadly by the time I went throught the comments I forgot the rest.

I believe that if we are juding things PURELY on how it effected the public, then the first superman film has to be Number 1 easily.

"You'll believe a man can fly" was the caption of the film :P

I don't think any TV tricks should have been allowed on, because if so then by that logical the Lottery Prediction was brilliant (my friends like it) and Criss Angel is the best Magician ever.

David Blaine's levitation did not belong anywhere near a top fifty, because it was a camera trick. The man should hang his head in shame.

I would put Paul Daniel's electric chair first, with his chop cup second. And Derren Brown's Blair Witch Illusion third. But that's just me, and only opinion. Apart from the inclusion of Blaine I have no major issues with the program, other than that my favourite did not win.
