Ash pen and yigel mesikas loops

Postby jwardmagic » Aug 11th, '10, 08:48

I recently bought yigel mesikas loops but was quite dissapointed. Not at the brittleness of them...yes they are brittle but with care they can be used very effectively, but at the fact that they are clearly visible under almost any lighting conditions. I even performed the haunted deck trick in a room with no natural light at all, in the evening and the string was spotted. When around my wrist it almost looks like sewing thread wrapped around.
I find normal IT completely different. Although a lot more brittle, it is 10x harder to see than mesikas loops. What are your thoughts on this? Anyone found any better alternatives? Or maybe im missing something?

Also, regarding the ash pen trick. I have attempted numerous times to imprint the 'message' with the 'pen' on anothers arm by making a thick outline on my hand and squeezing their arm, then rubbing the ash etc...but it has never worked. Is there a better way to do this? Any thoughts?

The only times I've ever been caught out with loops was when the lighten was clearly wrong. As long as you're careful I've always found them to be really good.

What about reproducing the ash pen effect on a spectators arm? I have never had luck with this.
