it appears to need reloading to achieve certain effects on the demo video.

I wonder how you could play that into a routine?

Alec

The demo video doesnt show a routine, it only shows what could be used with it.

The sequence with the little red and white balls might be something that you could do as one routine..

you're like Yoda.you dont say much, but what you do say is worth listening to....

Would this perhaps be used as a utility prop then?! I could see that working.

According to the advert you linked to, it would appear so:

I think this may be one of those occasions where the demo vid doesn't exactly flatter the prop. I reckon you could get some of those changes looking a lot smoother with practice.

Is this for everyone? Probably not, and my in my opinion the price does seem a little bit steep, but if you get a wealth of ideas and routines along with the item then perhaps it's justifiable.

I'll be posting a REAL demo soon.

This product has gotten wonderful reviews - by every respectable review source.

Now, why the expense?

Let's assume ideas, plans, prototypes, methods, moves and tested routines have value for starters - don't they?

Then, this was extremely expensive to develop and produce:

Die cut balsa wood
Die cut "color-bender" plastic sheets
Die cut, highest quality, thick art-board veneers,
Adhesive
Putty
Paint
Gimmicks
Hand made crochetted balls
Video at Magic Castle by David Regal
Hired camera work
DVD production
Packaging
Shipping
Promotion, etc.

All die cutting, hand sanding, edge painting, assembling and packaging by yours truly. I worked VERY HARD.

David Regal did a great job on the DVD - lots of full routines and ideas to get you started. Simple moves thoroughly explained.

I'll try and get the new demo out as soon as I can.

I am very proud of this effect, and the wonderful response it has gotten by those using it. It comes with at least 8 complete and entertaining routines, just to get you started.

The current demo is really not very good, and for that I apologize. It doesn't show any routine, or any real trick, for that matter. The new demo, I will do myself (I did not put the first demo together), and in retrospect, should not have approved it.

Hi Steve,

Thanks for replying to this thread.

I hope you didnt take my post as an attack on your product, I was just really flummoxed by the price as on the demo video it looks just like things are being hidden from view on one side of the board and then simply pulled through the hole!

Ill look forward to seeing the new video and hope that I havnt in anyway offended you.

Sincerely,

Alec

It reminds me of Zone Zero too. Zone Zero is excellent. I'm sure with the right amount of work Portal could look great.

The hole in the card could be intriguing for an audience.
Objects appearing and vanishing in the vortex!

This is Zone Zero isn't it? But the thing is hard not bendy. Oo er.

I would love the creator to explain how it differs.

Hi there. I would suggest, for the curious, to find the info that is out there in other places, like the cafe, et al.

I do not think I will post again in a thread insinuating that one of my favorite, pet effects - that I worked so hard and long to acheive, that has had great reviews and is being used by some top names in the business - is "the worst effect in the world". If this thread is discontinued, and a new one is started, regarding discussion or reviews of this effect, then I will participate. In the meantime, I can not stand to see my baby treated so harshly, by someone who has never seen it, held it, read about it, etc - so I am gone from this thread for good.
