Indeed - but his method is, as I am sure others will agree, far from 'clean' - in fact, it's almost too obvious...
What I think Daryl has tried to do with 3 Fly III is to bring the routine closer to the hands of the beginner.
Versions by Kohler, Kenner, Roth and the finger-twisting Kam and the like seem far too difficult at first - because their techniques are suggestive that they might have six fingers on each hand and a magic flap in their palm.
I have had a look through my 'tomes' after this conversation, because I really would like to start doing coin work again (if nothing else, because it put my hands into great shape for bending peoples minds!)... and the one conclusion I seem to find is that it depends what level of commitment you are prepared to put in.
I know this is a digression, but I though it may be a worthy thing to note that if you are a beginner, it seems unfair that unless you learn a load of sleights - you have to foot the bill for an expensive 'gimmick' set.
However, there are a fair load of variations of Three Fly... so there's plenty of choice.
(although, I still secretly prefer Jay's 'in the hands' coin's across...
