How can you call yourself a pro if you're asking this question?

If you are a pro then surely you would have at least a few gigs under your belt?

If so then word of mouth is a great advert for someone who has given good service.

Get some cards printed up and give some to friends and family to hand on to people they know.
Ask your local kids clubs and nurserys to have a few of your cards on the front desk and maybe put up a promo poster to advertise what you do if you are a kids magician, if not, ask to do some table hopping at your local bars and get your cards out there amongst the public.

how many gigs have you done??

I may have been born yesterday but I stayed up all night.

True - no self respected pro would need to ask for advise on getting bookings.

Get a web site, get some businesscards and flyers and then spend a few weeks and months building up local contacts by doing the leg work.

Also, probably not the best way to introduce ones self?

There are several threads on getting work, one very recent indeed. If you use the Search function you'll find them.
