The new bike case and a way round it.

Postby Markdini » Aug 27th, '10, 19:12

When the new bike card case was released there was a lot of moans and groans about it, I thought to myself why are they moaning about this? Then playing around with an effect I noticed that I need the back design of the case to look like the back of the card. The bike case design we know and love, well I tried slipping my set-up and an indifferent card in the back of the cellophane to have a camouflage principle but it was too thick and I couldn't remove my set-up that easily (3 card set-up for those interested )

So I thought to my self how about taking the set-up out of the cellophane and wrist killing the card case, nope that looks suspicious. So I've come up with a solution that I hope hasn't been thought of before to deal with this. Its simples actually.

Take a new deck unwrapped the cellophane and carefully peel the seal off don't brake it just yet place this to one side.

Next you are going have to split a card and peel the back off the card you are splitting, glue this on to the back the case, cut out the half moon from the new “back”. If you want the cellophane slide the bottom half of it back on to the card case. Seal the deck with the seal you removed, then brake the seal like it is a fresh deck

I hope no one else has thought of this. And there one new old looking bike case.

Very good indeed, sir. Card splitting is a bit 'knacky', but even I have managed to learn how.

Why thank you both, I soak the cards first myself I know some people like to tap the card to start the split.

i was just thinking if one uses post-it note glue they can transfer from card case to card case, with out all that tapping of cards.

Im strictly a soaker myself.

But to be honest, if it's only for cosmetic reasons, I would just glue a card on the box, unstriped.
Lazy i know, but if its on display for a second or two.. who's going to notice?

( i think cards for magic still sell old style tuck cases.. and you can get self adhesive stickers too.)

I knew a tap dancer he fell in to the sink,

Dale you could just slip a card in the back of the box under the cellophane but this wont make it easy to remove a 3 card set-up , you would have four cards and it makes the cellophane a bit tight to work with.

do you put the cards back into the box, in order to add the stack?
if so, why not just retain them inside the box to start off with, by using the sticky tab?
I find that quite often the thing retains several cards on it's own. :)

Another way which would allow the celophane thing to work, is simply removing a few cards from the deck.

It stops teh cards in front from being too tight.

Dale I think you have missed the point of why I want camouflage , I do a lot of gambling related stuff now and have started playing around with a trick of Darwin Ortiz's which you patter a bit while pattering you place the deck on top of the card case, when you are ready to go in to the effect you steal the set-up from the cellophane while taking the cards.
