the only problem i see with de-lites and children, is that a high proportion of kids these days know what they are, thanks to so many rip off cheap "light up thumbs" being sold out there.

Exposure... see, it can hurt some times. :)

you're like Yoda.you dont say much, but what you do say is worth listening to....

This works really well with kids if you also incorporate a D-Lite into the effect so a vanished silk becomes a red light, catch in the other hand and reveal the silk once more. Very visual and captures the attention of most kids.

Good shout Jordan, I had forgotten D Lites. And if you have the D Lite bag or the D Lite Bug they are also popular.

You can get a good few minutes out of this before they'll bore because there's constant surprise as to what is going where!! End this routine with a streamer of silks and they'll be floored :)

They may understand part of the trick (but few will tbh) but with the way it would be flowing and free I've never had a problem. Even kids who have "found" my D-Lite and played with it still say WOW when done in fairly fluid silk routine

Kids love it, with one liners like:

Dont try this at home, doing it at school makes you cool.

Only 3 magicians in the world can do this , and im not one of them.

(then just before you swallow) play up the fact that no one is trying to stop you.

Or alternatively don't! Not unless you've prebooked an ambulance to take away the kid who tries to copy you!

Actually this is a myth. Kids don't try to copy you when you do the balloon swallow. I can say that with confidence because I have done it at every kids show for fifteen years without a problem or a complaint.

TT tricks always go down well with kids. Simple card tricks like cards across also work well. You could even use Pokemon cards or football cards to add interest for them. And they love coin magic.

the year after we invaded Iraq me and some mates went out there for 3 months working with kids (war really mess's with their heads).
behind our hotel in Baghdad was a mother Teresa place caring for disabled kids. first time I went there I asked a nun if it was ok to use modelling balloons as I didn't want a kid to swallow one when it bust.
she was a well spoken nun and, in a posh English accent said "it's no problem,if they swallow one it just tends to bung them up for a few days"
I stood there speechless thinking "I cant do it, there's just no way I can talk constipation with a nun. its just wrong"

Coin magic works well for kids, I find - if they don't know all the suits of the cards, they will still now what coins are and can appreciate them jumping from hand to hand.
