Close up Magic Case

Postby The Last Deck on the Left » Sep 6th, '10, 21:03

Hi there,

I'm trying to find a decent case to transport my closeup magic to gigs.

I'm currently using a modified Poker Chip case, which doesn't look too bad (like a metal brief case) - but it's not that big and is starting to fall apart.

It only needs to hold close up material really, so doesn't need to be suitcase sized!

Any suggestions would be really appreciated!

Cheers,

B&Q do a similar range but without the foam inserts. Instead they have configurable dividers and cost a few pounds less.

Depending on what you are transporting the foam could be more of a nuisance so make sure that you check out both before you buy.

It's not really an optical illusion - it just looks like one!

I get my Close Up cases from Jessops (the camera shop) and my stage cases from Maplins

This is what I use for close up (the briefcase like ones at the top of the page)

Thanks for the links and advice - these are just the sort of thing I'm looking for. I'll have a look over the weekend and let you know how I get on.

Many thanks,

I use the case from B&Q that Dave just mentioned.

You can look as well for 'DJ Cases' as they are pretty similar.

Some magicians I know use 'Doctors Bags' to create an impression. These look nice but take a while to find a decent affordable one. Ironic thing is that my better half is a Doctor and doesn't own one but magicians I know do? It's an odd, odd world. :)

Got mine from Maplins, it has compartments galore & the main bit is ajustable to fit your needs. Bought mine about 8 years ago & it's still more than fit for purpose.

They come in various colours and sizes.

also a gun case or a hard sided camera case are good and a lot like the ones already mentioned. But if you spot a camera place that is having a sale you may get a good deal.

Thanks for all of the links - it's a real help.

I picked one up from Maplins yesterday - the one russpie mentioned - it was only £19.

It's quite big, but will be great when I need to take a lot of material with me, or have parlour show material.

I'll probably check out some of these other links too, and the camera shops to try and find a smaller one as well.

Thanks again,

Regards,
