I know the link is 2007 but I was reading and watching stuff lately that shows this is ever closer to being commonplace :)

Ah, now, if memory serves here, below one wavelength, the electric part of electromagnetic radiation can be harvested with an induction coil. You just have to be nearer than one wavelength to the hot end of the antenna.

They have now got directional trays so you leave your chargeables on the tray overnight and in the morning they are charged. Still needs you to plug the tray into mains but it eliminates the cables for controllers and chargers.

Still got some way to go but they'll get there!! :)

Good stuff. Personally, I still marvel at radio waves and being able to send information over them every time I test a data link for a project. There's something very unusual about pressing a button over here and something seemingly unconnected happening over there. It's beautiful. It's wonderful. It's REAL magic! :D

It's also me on too much coffee again :oops:
