I searched the book and printed review section as well as the archived on via the google seach, and both review indices by hand, but to no avail. So I think it'd be safe to assume the review doesn't exists. I was in doubt, because the books are like older and the author well known and valued as I could find out in other postings. So I think I am on the safe side?

My question now is, if the printed and book reviews or in general the review section only allows for strictly "magic" litarature or if there is still place for like "magic related" stuff, like a good book about "mathematics", "psychology", "puzzles", "bar bets". All under the premise, that the connection to magic can be drawn from those books and they're not completely unrelated, like a review on a book about fourier transformations would make no sense in this forum's context. Still I talk of books which do not directly contain effects, tricks, methods, per se, but more knowledge which might be useful to create method, effect and the like.

In the Mentalism area we have an occasionally updated thread devoted to books that aren't directly about magic but nevertheless could be useful in creating magical effects.

Good to know, I regard this kind of books the most useful , though I have to admit, that without books directly related to effects, method and well tricks, I would not be able to make use of the other books, as even creativity needs some experience, at least my case.

With effects such as White Star it's useful to have read up on Titanic and the events leading the the disaster. With Thaumaturge's Talea, a bit of basic Hungarian history can help reinforce the idea that the performer really knows what he's talking about!

I don't know if I got that right, I was more about books which at a general scope are related to magic. As far as I understand the connection between the White Star effect and the Titanic, this knowledge would only decorate but one effect and thus a book about the Titanic not be suitable for being reviewed under Books and Printed formats. But it sparks the idea, that in a review of the effect itself this could turn out to spice up the review?

A review of the book for no other reason wouldn't be appropriate but if it's done wih the intention of linking to a magic effect then that would be OK. We've had mention of things like The Picture of Dorian Grey, not a full review but intended to spark the imagination towards an effect of transposing one picture for another. If you have a book in mind which you can show would relate to magic then go for it!
