My daughter saw a routine a few weeks ago and all she could tell me it contained a lot of animal cards...Monkey and tiger stuck in her mind...

Can anyone tell me the name of this trick please ?

If you don't get any clues here, you could perhaps try Albion Magic ( http://www.albionmagiccompany.co.uk/ ) as they do a lot of children's magic.

I don't know what the trick was but perhaps it could've been a magician doing a trick with these safari playing cards for children that are sold at http://www.animalplayingcards.co.uk/products/junior-safari.htm




I reckon they'd be great for doing card magic for younger children but unfortunately I notice there is only 32 in each deck, which perhaps limits their use. I guess you could mix some cards in from the Farm Animals Deck that they do if you wanted to perform a trick with a full deck of 52 animals.

I cant for the life of me remember the name of it but it could be the one where you have four cards each showing 4 animals and you have to memorise one.

The magician then predicts which animal you were looking at?

If that sounds right then ill put some research into it and find out the name.

I have a similer trick to this one that uses runes instead of animals. Its a fantastic trick that is simple and clean.

Without more information, it's going to be hard to tell you the exact effect. The one kobain is talking about is Animental by Danny Archer.

Eddie Burke sells a number of animal themed effects, including something that looks awfully like Animental! There's Animal PSI and Animal Maze, for example, both of which use cards with animal pictures.

From the description, this could even have been a trick about the Chinese Zodiac. It might also have been the performer's own creation, of course.

Bananafish developed a trick that involved animal cards and elastic bands. The volunteer would choose an animal card and memorise it, then Mr B would turn a band into the shape of the aforementioned beastie.

That sounds similar to Animal Sense (and might even pre-date that item), but I don't think the marketed version is the trick the OP is after as there is neither a monkey nor a tiger in it!

A quick search of just one site also found Noah's Mix Up and Deja Zoo.

There was even an animal magc kit aimed at kids that had some zoo cards included.

There's lots of animal-themed tricks, especially ones aimed at children and families. And probably 99% of them include monkeys and tigers.

For a start, how old is your daughter? That might help narrow down the field, at least.

I do quite a few card tricks using animal snap cards, it could be something original to the performer.

There is animal hunter - it only uses one animal card (a round one) and it's about £1 for 100 of them, so you can hand it ut as freebie, but it's not really very magic.
As we know, there is really no 'bad effect' - but this comes close - lots of scope for joke routines though. oh dear!

It seems that most of the tricks she remembered are for sale in Albion Magics Special offer for 60 pounds

I am going to buy this package as it looks a good mix of tricks for children.

Will see how it goes , I need plenty of practice, my daughter is having a halloween party in a couple of weeks so I am going to see if I can keep the kids entertained for half an hour, got TT and silks which always goes down well. I also want a change bag but I am not sure of the quality of Ebay Items so I will look in the magic shops online....
