What would you pay....?

Hi Guys

I've developed an effect called Phoenix Flash. I'm trying to get it published but in the meantime I want to offer it for sale myself. Read the effect outline below and tell me please what you would be prepared to pay for an effect that plays out like this!

PHOENIX FLASH

A flash presentation from the mind of
Jordan C
With alternate handling by Paul Stevens

“The effect”

“Two spectators are asked to join you on stage or in front of your group.

On the table are a deck of cards, a candle, a piece of paper and a felt pen. You ask the spectators to examine the deck of cards, they are a normal deck. You then ask a spectator to choose any card - a totally free choice!

The card is signed and lost in the deck and a crude duplicate drawn out on the paper. The paper is then taken from the spectator.

As you talk you get more and more excited…… you talk wildly about the power of the phoenix and deliberately place the paper in the candle flame and it erupts into flames. From the flames jumps a playing card.

It is slowly revealed.

It’s the spectators signed card!”

Positive feedback has already been received on this.

Very nice routine Jordan!

In short I have found it to be a very nice, very strong effect, and yet still relatively simple (just how I like them).

Part of the appeal for me is that it's a card trick but it's more than that as it uses other effects and 'props' so even the non cardies will be happy to give it a go.

So....... How much would you pay???

well firstly id cut down on the description of the effect because from reading it i've already worked out how its done (and an alternative handling for it!) and so i wouldnt need to buy it.

secondly im guessing that a lot of dealers wont publish a single effect... if it was part of a book or an ebook of effects then you might have better luck.

you could try magic-notes.com to see if they would publish it in ebook form.. ask mandrake as he's already had stuff published by them

That's much better I think. It catches the imagination without giving too much away.

Re price, I would agree that as a single effect you might find it a little hard to sell unless it came with a pad of paper or such. As a downloadable manuscript though, you could probably get away with asking a fiver a shot

I think that for a fiver this would be attractively priced

Have offered it on ebay for now at £5.99, we'll see what happens, I'd rather offer a package, Manuscript, Bike pack and Pad!

I saw your advert on ebay and a few things struck me.
(1) Maybe you should put a warning about age on this trick as it does involve fire etc.
(2) The bit where you mention needing something else for this to work would sound a bit dodgy to me if i didnt know what you meant.

Apart from that good convincing sales speech!

On the bicycle brick magicbox seems cheapest at £19.50 for a single/multi coloured brick(with postage) OR £21.50 for a mutlicoloured brick(with postage) <- the last mutli coloured brick is Red,Blue,Black and Green where as the first multi coloured brick is just Red and Blue

Just out of interest have you sold many yet?

Hope my criticism comes in handy

Good Luck with the selling
Sam

Hope it goes well for you.

Some of the more recent packs have the yellow falsh label printed on the front of the box to advertise that the Texas hold 'em up poker rules are included.

Does anyone else find this annoying. I think that the plain Bike boxes are much better.

I havent seen them yet but yes it would annoy me!

Sadly i have neither any purchases yet nor have Alakazam got back to me. I have however emailed a few other dealers for their thoughts.

If anyone on TM would like a copy then I will supply for £2.99 to members with 40 or more posts. (Is that allowed, I'll edit immediately if not!)

PM if you're interested.

Probably not but what the hell!
