Scry

Postby Dovewars » Oct 13th, '10, 18:44

Hi,

I have been working on a new effect with Paul Voodini and Freddie Valentine. It is called scry and I just wanted to send you all a 'preview' of the effect.

Gaze into the mirror, relax and who knows what you might divine.

This is a very cool effect and a wonderful item. I'm delighted to have been involved and look forward with baited breath to its release!

Just one suggestion... figure a different way of doing the re-set. The constant manifestation then placing it onto the box, etc. just isn't natural.

I like the effect, it has huge potential, but somehow this particular "flaw" needs to be ironed out if one is to make it more than an interesting "trick" as it were... I guess I'm saying that you need to remove what seems to be "the obvious".

if you made the mirror black, that would be better...

and the frame circular, that might hide the doings more...

is that the wooden box/book from Black Hart by the way? i have one somewhere...

I dont think there is a flaw. The box isnt needed at all. Simply allow the mirror to drop down in your hands to horizontal to the ground ish...

Basically the reset is based on a tilt. ie, tilt it close to flat it resets. The book was just there is as a stand.

This reminds me of those disney princess mirrors. Not in a bad way.. :) I'm guessing that that's where the inspiration came from.

I agree with the darker colour. It would make the item seem older.
but would a circular frame not look a bit "loo seat" if you know what i mean?

hides the 'necessary' better from a slight distance, no descrepency in shape/movement then...

and as its a scrying mirror, i'd have thought an oval/circle would look nicer? maybe even a detachable handle if you did a mini-version?
