New item alert!!!

Postby Jon Allen » Sep 30th, '10, 18:05

Hi all,

I just wanted to let you know that my new item is very close to being released. If your passion is straight jacket escapes.... go elsewhere as this isn't for you! However, if you are into key bending and creating a real piece of emotional theatre then this *is* for you!

There's no surprise in the main effect - a key gets bent. However, the routine that comes with it and the motivation for bending the key is what makes it special for people. There's a second routine created between myself and Gregory Wilson which not only leaves them with the key as a souvenir but your business card as well. It will also explain what I call "The OMG Bend" because that's what people have said when I have shown them the method. You will not believe it!

I am editing the instructional DVD this week and hope to have it all finished in the next 2 weeks. I just wanted to let you know it's on its way and I'll let you know more soon regarding price, availability etc.

Thanks,
Jon

I look forward to the release Jon! Sounds like a nice commercial method. I do a key bend already but I'm always looking for a new innovative idea for method and presentation!

Thanks Mark. I do it for walkaround a lot. I did forget to point out the few usual enticements:

No sleeves
No pulls
No extra pocket space required
You can carry the gimmick round with you very easily

Also, the main routines are structured for commerial use. This is not a fancy thing to impress magicians but something to take out into the real world and amaze people with.

Sounds perfect, the method I use has all the restrictions that you said yours hasnt got - I use it as a segway from a coin bend. Now im full time in the game of close up, I appreciate the little things a lot more.

Cant wait for it!

Hi Jon, do you bring out your own key, let them examine etc. and bend it, or do you borrow a key and bend that?

I'm showing my ignorance now as I've never considered a key bend before, I do a coin bend in my work.

Cheers

Chris

Hi Chris,

I bring out my own keys (the main routine is a two key routine). I don't ask them to examine them but they get to handle them and keep them at the end so they know they are just regular keys.

Maybe you'll start considering a key bend...? :-)

Thanks Jon, does that mean I have to buy replacements or can I use any keys and I am buying a routine? Feel free to PM if you would prefer.

It sounds great BTW.

You can use any flat, Yale-style key. I supply a few blank keys to get you started but after that you can go to a locksmith for cast offs.

You are buying a gimmick but the routine is very important as well. It is actually the drving force behind the bend!

I have now got the online trailer uploaded. You can watch it here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JBsa8sQdqzQ

For those expecting to see me doing the bend, you will be disappointed. What it will show is the routine and the effect it has on the people involved. With something like an in-the-hands key bend that is what's important.

I should point out that although the trailer says you can buy this directly from me... you can't just yet. The DVDs are being finalised and need to be duplicated. I am away from 19th - 26th October but once I return, it will all be finished and I will be able to send them out to people.

Thanks,
Jon
