Catching a card in the mouth

Postby Derango » Oct 10th, '10, 14:43

I've recently started card throwing as I feel it will fit into my psychedelic act - many multicoloured cards flying everywhere.

I really want to be able to catch cards in my mouth, or even in fans. I have practiced this many, many times and have been successful about 1 time in 100!

are there any books or dvds that give some hints (zoom, bounce and fly doesn't really teach it)? Or even just some helpful tips from somebody on this forum?

If you've managing to do it, then I think the best advice really is keep practicing. It might take a while, but eventually muscle memory will develop and you'll start successfully catching it more and more, until you're able to do it every time

I'm just thinking "paper cuts". In the mouth. Ow.

are you actually trying to catch it in your mouth? Or are you trying the old' vacume trick where as the card fly's and hovers just before your mouth you quickly breathe in and the card is 'vacumed' to your lips. I hesitate to say sucked to your lips as it will just appear on the inuendo board. oh well.

If the latter then it is just timing. And try not to pass out.

Once you have the first card mastered...
then the rest of the cards are fairly simple as the first acts as a slide.
Hope that makes sense.
