has anyone else had problems with windows update on xp sp2. :?:

I downloaded and installed updates earlier this week with no apparent problems but that doesn't mean much these days - they could just be lurking. What kind of problems have you had?

the first part comes up then when it does its check i get.

[Error number: 0x80096010]
Windows Update has encountered an error and cannot display the requested page. You may find the following resources helpful in resolving the problem:
For self-help options:

For assisted support options:

Microsoft Online Assisted Support (no-cost for Windows Update issues)

there is no error message explanation in the knowledge base for this one.

Did you download the sp2 update? If so, that could be the problem. I know of a few instances wher the downloaded version has given errors. You could tr ordering a CD. This is where you can get it:

I'm not seeing any of those messages - so far - but thanks for the tip re the CD, I'll check and see if we need to get one for the machines at work.

sp2 came included with xp seems its my root certificates that are corrupt so will have to do a safemode reboot.

all sorted after reboot so much for xp being the most stable windows platform.
