The Effect
They say:
The performer removes three different coloured dice from a small box and passes them to a spectator.

The closed box containing a prediction is now left in full view all of the time.

Spectator now mixes the dice out of sight and a selection is made.

The selected die matches the prediction inside the box!

Completely self contained effect includes a superbly-made made
collectors quality veneer wood box.

Cost £45 from Martin Breese International

Difficulty
(1=easy to do, 2=No sleights, but not so easy, 3=Some sleights used,
4=Advanced sleights used, 5=Suitable for experienced magicians only)

1 though like most mentalism effects presentation is key - and it is hard to put a number on that...

Review

I really like this. If you have spent any time in mentalism there will be no real surprises here in terms of method. There are other tricks on the market which have the same (or v. similar) 'method' but different props.

But it is the props that make this for me. The box is extremely well made and the prediction part (can't say more without exposure) is beautifully made and an improvement on a similar trick from another supplier which I own.

Also, for me, dice are an easier sell in terms of the plot and lend themselves to various patter possibilities. This trick will get better in proportion to your performance abilities, but it is not a difficult effect to master.

My only slight criticism would be the price - but then you are getting very good quality props - and that doesn't come cheap. Even the presentation box comes in a presentation box! So for me, worth the investment.

Overall

9/10 - this is effective, straightforward, well-made mentalism - I've only docked a point for the price. And that may just be me being a bit stingy!

I first saw Wayne Dobson perform it on telly and really loved it.

I have the early model Steve put out.

It wasn't £45 back then :)

I had this in my pocket at a gig the other day. I was going to show the lady a card trick and she didn't look very excited at the prospect - so I asked what she would like to see, and someone called out 'show us something with some dice' - so I went into this and she was delighted :-)
