Close up Case

Postby lukeclough » Dec 13th, '10, 23:37

Having recently started to look to take on gigs, I am looking into close up cases to carry my things in. Does anybody have any recommendations? I do close up (cards, packet tricks, sponge balls, bits and pieces etc)

I'm a mentalist so my stuff fits in a very small space, but try looking for 'Flight Cases' They are very good quality, will last a long time, and look great. They're not to expensive either and should easily give you enough room for cards and other props.

B&Q have a good range of alluminium style cases that are ideal and well priced to boot.

It's not really an optical illusion - it just looks like one!

B&Q do a range under the electricians toolbox guise but ebay and google are your friend here.

My only advice is that if only a couple of £ or $ gets you a case that can lock - it's worth the extra.
Otherwise any case will do I personaly use a light weight aluminium flight case style but I also have a "deep" leather brief case that I sometimes use.. horses/courses
If you go on youtube some folks have even filmed there magic cases!?!

Try the Search Function as this topic has been raised many times before and there are loads of useful suggestions out there!

I went to B&Q looking the other day and they told me they have stopped doing them. I am going to try the local B&Q (I'm 400 miles away from the store I tried) and see what they say.

The cheapest case I have found online is with Jessops, though it looks like a temporary deal since the cheapest case is larger than the 2nd cheapest they do.

Having searched for a case earlier this year, it seems they are harder to find and more expensive now.

I use a metal makeup case, they're not all that expensive to pick up.

Good old-fashioned Gladstone (doctor's) bags all the way! Although they offer minimum protection and aren't very durable. We do spend many a night sewing 40 year old leather back together!

I use a normal business type suitcase. Looks business-like and carries more than I ever really need

I have an aluminium case from B & Q - it's a bit lightweight and cheap to be honest - but this has my larger stand up items in etc.

Close up I got a smaller case from B & Q which I guess is for sorting out nuts and bolts and things - but it holds, coins, elastic bands, TTs, spongeballs, etc... etc... I just take my cards in my pocket, or carry them on top of the case.

Dnt bother with Flight cases or b&q tool boxes. Go to "Midwest Magic" online, they have all types of Close up cases, some fitted with a Card cloth and Secret compartments!!

Hope this Helps

I got the Jessops case I mentioned above as an Christmas pressie. It is absolutely perfect!

Having spent the last 2 months trying every shop in Edinburgh to find a case with suitable customisable foam insides, this case is where my search took me. This is the cheapest case I found and it is exactly what I want in a close up case. It is also on offer at the moment (cheaper than the next smallest).

I also just bought a 2 case set from B&Q (a black case with a smaller blue case inside). While they are good, they don't have the customisable foam inside and they are not as solid.

A massive thumbs up for the Jessops Camera case! :D
