Just had a message in from Nick:

Hi Paul
Thanks for the link. Very complimentary and frankly a steal at £4.99! I am not sure how they can sell at that price as even I can't buy them that cheaply!!!!
Kind regards and thanks for the support
Nick

I was going to offer to sell him a few copies but I guess he already knows what's in the books!

NB - Our local 'The Works' had a stack of copies on sale again last night - £4.99 each. If you misssed this the last three times it was on sale, don't miss out again - go get one, you won't regret it!

Our 'The Works' have them again and those of us who are wise enough might care to buy an extra copy or two for future trade and barter - once all those copies are gone, there will be no more and they'll be worth the full list price!

I went past our local 'The Works' at lunchtime and I see they now price this book at £2.99. If you haven't bought one by now you really ought to go see if there are any left - it's easily worth five times that price.
(No, I'm not on commission - unfortunately!)

This is one of my favourite books in my magic library. I always learning stuff from it and it is so easy to learn from with the help of the colour photographs

I just realised I had this book. Been on a shelf for the last year. Just flicked through it and looks good. I remember I picked it up at my local Works for about a fiver. Seems a bargain though. :)

This is a top book, full of great stuff and a bargain (well it was when I got mine anyway)

If you can get hold of it and are starting out in magic I suggest you buy it, some of the effects are soooo good and it's really well laid out.

I'm surprised it's not mentioned on here more often...

Having browsed in The Works this very afternoon, old Flashy happened upon this very book under another guise.

"The Encyclopedia of Magic by Nicholas Einhorn"

Currently just £3.99 in The Works, so all you folk who ask what would be a good book to get when you haven't got much money, get yourselves down there (no excuses)!!!

Bump!!!
At long last Nick's released anoher book, details courtesy of www.magicweek.co.uk:
Nick Einhorn's new book Magical Illusions is now available. The book features over 200 magic tricks and is illustrated with 1,300 step-by-step photos. Hardcover, 256 pages, published by Lorenz Books, RRP £14.99. This is an ideal book for the novice magician and a superb reference book for the more initiated. Nick's previous book The Art of Magic has now sold over 250,000 copies worldwide. Buy a signed copy directly from Nick during July and August, mention "MagicWeek", and you'll receive a free copy of Nick's Lecture Notes "Set One" or "Set Two" (value £10.50). To purchase a signed copy, together with your free Lecture Notes for £15.99 (including postage UK only) Paypal your payment to sales@einhorn.co.uk and clearly state your choice of notes (1 or 2). See www.einhorn.co.uk for more details of the lecture notes - the new book will be added to the website shortly.

At that price it's a bargain already, no need to wait until it's sold at The Works  !

I found a copy of The Art of Magic and Sleight of Hand" a couple of years ago and I am still going back to it regularly.
Along with the second book, Magical Illusions, Conjuring Tricks, Amazing Puzzles and Stunning Stunts, a whole range of topics from basic sleight of hand to some easy to 'make at home' stage illusions are covered.

Both books...(The second should have it's own review as well me-thinks...?), are supremely well illustrated with clear and professional photos.

The fact that I bought both of these books in The Works should not detract from the fact that they are both extremely good, the first is more of a "Beginners Guide" and the second develops things further and has a wealth of fun and practical effects that can be made at home for little to no cost.

Not only are the books well presented in terms of illustration but they are a joy to read too. The instructions are concise and beautifully easy to understand. Many tricks also conclude with a tip or two of how to vary the presentation or ways to combine with other tricks.

I am not ashamed to admit that the first kid's birthday party show I ever performed at consisted of many of the tricks from these books.
In fact, now I come to mention it, it is because of Mr Einhorn that I have never purchased a commercial version of "Square Circle Production" and have always managed perfectly well with a home made version from three pieces of coloured card!
