Hello

Postby tjhhughes » Dec 31st, '10, 12:36

I'd just like to say thank you to the experienced members who leave advice on the website (not secrets!). I've been experimenting with magical entertainment for about three years, and have enjoyed reading some of the classics, including Robert-Houdin, Professor Hoffman, Sachs, Vernon, Erdnase, Page, Simon and many others. I have ploughed through Tarbell, and every time I go back to it I find something that I dismissed before.

Videos are splendid for getting an idea on how to present an effect, but practising in front of the mirror is nothing like presenting an effect to people, and I am lucky enough to live in a village with a couple of village hall shows a year as a vehicle for getting up on my hind legs and having a bash at it.

Good luck to all my fellow beginners

Tim

Unfortunately you are quite right. If you haven't started by the time you are twenty-five and a half then you are too old: you need to get your ten thousand hours in pretty soon. Unless you mean as a spectator, in which case anything over eight is too old.
