Overall I found this show to be very disappointing. It could easily have been broadcast in 1975 what with the cheesy dancers and embarrassing attempts at "humour". In fact I was so unhappy with the show that I phoned Radio Five and chatted live on air to Phil Williams and Boyd Hilton about it, including sneaky namechecks for Lee Smith, James Brown and Anthony Jacquin.

Hopefully P&T's "Fool Us" on Friday on ITV will be in a different league.

A few years ago it was just called a camera.
Why is it now a webcam? Where was the web part of it?

Maybe to make it accessible as an idea for people to recreate cheaply, maybe to try and distance it from real TV cameras or stills cameras (Yes, I know digital cameras can do video, but they can only stream live when connected to a computer and used as if it's a webcam)

Surely they weren't all behind that big wooden screen two feet behind the box ?

I think the less said about 'The Magicians' the better. Looking to the positive, from what I saw at the filming of Penn & Teller's "Fool Us" we are all in for a refreshingly good magic shot on Friday night.

I hope they did a decent job editing all the footage together otherwise I'll be eating my words, but the atmosphere live was great. The audience loved it.

I thought The Magicians was a good show. I can't wait for "Fool Us" though. Always liked Penn and Teller and the premiss sounds great.

Is it the start of a series or a one off?

The Magicians is a series, Fool Us is a one-off

Yea, just a one off. But it's obvious to think what will happen to a one off if the ratings are high!

Just caught The Magicians. Until this I thought that The Secret World of Magic was the worst sh*te that magicians have foisted on an undeserving public. Now I am not so sure.

It's one of the mysteries of life how the people who commission this rubbish keep their jobs.

It was on, but i wasnt really paying that much atention to it. One thing i liked was Bary and Stuarts take on Blockhead. The spoon, added reason, and took some of the yuck factor from it.

I did notice one hefty cut, in the card in orange segment. Why?

And who decided that the sublime close up/ caberet effect Deans box, should be scaled up, in order to produce "Victoria?".

It was lots better than last weeks though. which isnt realy saying that much.

I gave it a fair go this week, but I give up now. Even Ade in his spangly suit couldn't save it. Filthy, Rich and Catflap was better than this.

Wife says it's everything she's ever hated about magic shows distilled into an hour.

I agree with Dale - it was better than last week's show but still fell short of the the P&T show on ITV. In fact, I'd go so far as to say I actually enjoyed it more than the hatchet-job that passed for Derren's 'Enigma' show earlier in the week (sack the editors, C4!!!)

I'll keep watching (the kids like it, after all!) and, anyway, we shouldn't complain too much, we've had more magic on TV in the first week of 2011 than we have in the last 20-odd years!

I am re watching it.

Amanda....
" Ive been interested in magic ever since i was a kid, and i remember watching Houdini movies, and i have always wanted to be Houdini's assistant"

W.T.F???? How old is she? i mean Houdini movies.. stupid cow.
She's so interested in magic , that the only name she could think of, is Houdini?

Presumably this was scripted. Who ever wrote that should of at least tried to make it current.

Yeah we had a good chortle at that too, "I always remember as a child watching Houdini movies," one of her parents must have had a serious Tony Curtis obsession

We only knew who she was because we caught the last 2mins of some Richard Hammond vehicle while we were waiting for Magicians to start... boy, was she irritating too.

I was out in the pub last night (no change there then  ) and I saw this coming on TV, so I rang the missus and asked her to record it.

I've just sat here and watched it and ......what can I say without swearing - to say I think it was a "bit" of a let-down is a massive under-statement.
Needless to say, I won't be watching this again  .

QUESTION:
If we can sue McDonalds for making us fat and cigarette companies for giving us cancer; why can't we sue Smirnoff for all the ugly gits we've sh*gged ??
