I've just got Bobo's - and I can see that there's years of information there. Unfortunately, I can't quite see where to start . I have got some of the palms in ch. 1, and I wanted to go on to tricks - but where should I start?!

Kati, if you take a look at this thread then you'll see that there is a study guide to Bobo flying around somewhere - unfortunately I can't find the copy that BaBaBoom sent me. Maybe someone else on the boards has it?

I started with Bobo and got completely lost - I just didn't know where to start and was overwhelmed with information.
Do you visit "This Coin Purse" (http://www.coinmagic.com)? Under the articles section they have a study guide to Bobo.
Having said this I still found my progress slow.
I then bought the ECMME tapes by Roth and then I could feel my progress really moving. I felt that Roth didn't help enough with the CP, so I bought Ian Kendall's CD "Basic Coin Magic". This doesn't give you any routines or tricks but some very good practice moves. Don't be put off by the fact that it looks like it's made in his mum's spare bedroom, it really is one of the finest teaching products around.
I think that everyone recommends Bobo without really thinking about it. Yes it's a great resource, but, in my opinion, only when you have already started to make progress. It will never teach you the grace and timing that you will see in a Roth move on video or DVD.

Hi Kati i used this study guide as well when i first started playing about with coins and found it to be really helpful when you stick to it. If i was you then i'd visit it because theres way too much in bobo's to just keep flicking through.
Also tell me when you get the back palm because it is the thorn in my side i'll tell you.

Does anyone know anywhere to get silver dollars and half dollars in the UK? The only sites I've been able to find are for collectors, and the coins tend to be quite expensive, especially considering the fact that I really need to buy a few of each. I've got a man in New York on the look out for bargains, but I'm not holding my breath (He's not the most reliable of correspondants). Any pointers would be much appreciated.

One of the easiest sources is ebay. There's a chap does five half-dollars for £2.50 (plus postage) which is poor exchange rate but good if there's nowhere you can get them locally. Those I purchased from ebay were a little worn and therefore excellent for magic.

I did include a link to another ebay item which was selling five half-dollars for £2.99 but having checked it after posting found ebay had removed the seller's items due to infringment -sorry about that - but go to the magiuc section of ebay and have a look anyway (unless people know of cheaper sources that is).

Five half dollars for £2.50 is very good - most magic dealers that I've seen sell them for £1 each.
