Never heard of a gimmicked egg cup. Sounds very interesting, especially if it can be loaded with the actual item and not a duplicate.
Just out of curiosity, are egg cups commonly used in Europe? Generally speaking, they are an old rich lady kind of thing here in the States. That or the cup is made of a precious metal and sits in a hutch as an ornament. Anyway...
Egg in egg cup. Slit in top of egg. Egg is now more or less a bank by design. Mercury fold. Deposit card. Use spoon to tap egg starting with the slit, thereby covering the dirty work. Take off "lid" and pour out egg and card.
Would likely need a large egg and bridge size card. Would easily work for billets so long as it isn't a flimsy paper.
This doesn't work on all types of eggs and may or may not add anything to your presentation but it's an idea- in a dim room, focus a light source directly on the egg from behind. If the shell is light in color enough and the membrane(sp?) thin enough, you will be able to see the shape of the card/coin/billet/etc. inside the egg. Kinda like an x-ray. Results, for me, have been hit-n-miss.
Sorry for the choppy wording- posting from iphone.
