Searching for British amateur magician.

Postby TStone » Jan 10th, '11, 17:11

Hello,

I'm searching for contact info to the British amateur magician who has this YouTube account:
http://www.youtube.com/user/RandomActsOfMagic
and who is in this clip:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6MQhWan6W8M

His name might, or might not, be Espen.

I'd be grateful for any hints - if nothing else; identifying where his accent might be from. etc.

Those wrist tatoos ought to be recongnisable and help identify the performer.

A Google search found more info on him. It is unfortunately on a non-work safe site by the looks of things.

I have PMed you the link as not tot subject people to it and to avoid shaming someone I don't know.

Don't think that's possible, since he does that job pretty well himself.

Some friends and I recently released a DVD titled "21 - Magic by Sweden" (Reviewed: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bS0KIFgwjEQ ).

Yesterday, I found the whole content, descriptions and all, posted at a pirate/exposure site. So I asked the guy who had posted it to remove it, which, among other things, got the reply:

"...rest assured i have no intention of removin my posts myself.
if you hadnt noticed this is an exposure website. we set out to basically unmask the various magicians materials to learn the tricks our self without going out and wasteing the money on the DVDs
i know i know this makes us bad unethical people but we don't mind. we have a nice little community here everyone is happy."

That doesn't sit too well with me, since I have pretty strong (pigheaded) views on such things - so I'd like to find out who the guy is, in case we decide to bring it to court.
Googling details from his profile there, brought me to his YouTube account, where it said he was British.
And you found that NSFW site, where it said he lives in Peterborough.
So, with some luck, it will not be impossible to track him down.

Edit: I was just told that the guy's name is Sean Adams

Tom, no matter what reasons those sites come up with, it's theft and there's no excuse for that. Best of luck in tracking the thief down and exposing him for what he is.

If it does go to court you should be able to have him done for theft or piracy or something and/or have the website taken down (if it shares torrents). The nerve of what he said, wasting the money on buying it? Hope he gets what he deserves.

Edit: Just seen your dvd, will definitley be getting it.

I live in Peterborough.

I wonder if he is a member of any of the local magic groups?

R99 Entertainment Solutions seem to use him for corporate work. They organise parties and corporate events.

He has also been mentioned in the local magazine ESP. If I wanted to trace him I would ring them to get his contact details.

Great!
I managed to get the pirated content removed. Sean had posted it as a reply to a question by someone who turned out to be a rather skilled 14-year kid. So I made the kid into a fan (via a kind PM conversation and the gift of a couple of my ebooks), and the kid promptly removed his question, and as the thread starter, all the following messages went away as well.

That, however, was not to Sean's liking, and via PM he promised that: -"i intend to go out of my way to expose the tricks on the dvd anyway i can..."

But, thanks to the kind assistance given here and at MagicBunny, I now have the contact info. Should it turn out that Sean's threat isn't an empty one, a stern legal letter will be sent to his home address. I sincerely hope it will not come to that, as I prefer a peaceful and amicable resolution, but if I'm forced to protect my work; I will.

I'm very grateful for all help given here. Thank you!
