It was better this week but there was only one winner for magic this week/year/decade so far... And that was Penn & Tellers Fool Us.

Back in the day you'd have expected ITV to make Magicians and BBC to have the quality of P&T... how things have changed!

I have to agree with that - ITV have been making some darn good telly lately, and you wouldn't have caught me saying that a couple of years ago

For those interested, according to Paul Wilson's twitter (again) this week's show got even higher ratings than last week - so they must be doing something right!

Good to see a rarely seen classic of Magic revamped for current times - Morritt's Donkey as used by Houdini to Hide The Elephant  !

The problem with the show is simple. It was a big mistake to fall into the celebrity culture that exists today and to use numpty celebrities in the show.

Penn and Teller worked as it was magicians performing magic not 'celebrities'.

I don't really understand the celebrity side of the show but I did think that pairing Ade Edmonson with Barry and Stuart was a brilliant idea and he bounced off them brilliantly.

I've just seen episode 2 (the one with Peter Jones, Ade Edmondson, and... that girl from that show). Yeah, I'm that behind

I have to admit I expected more from Ade, Barry and Stuart. They could've done some great things but instead they just modified their current stuff to add lines for a third person :( Although I really loved their Blockhead routine, that was really cool take on the trick

The helicopter trick was a bit obvious though surely, since we already knew there was an opening at the back of the set which they brought a car through? And did Peter Jones muck up his chain escape? Surely he should've escaped well before the screen was removed? Instead it just looked like he wasn't really tied up at all
