TWO CARDS

Postby mrstarwars » Jan 16th, '11, 23:57

I am sure this has a name but I am still new to this game.

I am trying to throw two cards down but make it look like there is only one card going down onto the table. I have seen this before but a long time ago.

Has anyone got any links to youtube or know what the move is called?

I believe Martin Nash mentions this in passing on one of hid DVDs

But really, its not very hard to figure out how to do it

Dan & Dave have it somewhere, tabletop something or other. I think it's on the trilogy set. Very knacky though.

DB has a nice misdirectional subteltie on the Devils Picturebook during the 3 card routine piece which seems to work well.

Why do you need to throw it?

Thow is the wrong word but to drop it on the table looks a lot better than myself carefully trying to put 2 down. As if am handling a ming vase.

Check out Nash, in that case. He talks about exactly what you're after

I think it's the first DVD in the Charming Cheat set. Well worth buying even if you're not up to his standard (and anyone who met me will attest, I'm nowhere near his standard)

Or, like I say, it's not that hard to figure out...

You Tube does not have it

Bottom line, you will need to spend some money to get the real work on tabling doubles. Youtube does not have it.

The Nash and Buck techniques are both great. Buying anything Nash puts out pays you back in spades. The Buck trilogy is also a worthy investment.

Ok cool, thanks for that. Will add it to my wish list.

Blue Glue, DS tape, dental wax, magician's wax, saliva, R/S and doubled corner crimp all come to mind.

I've seen a card effect called Japanese Aces by Arnaud Chevrier, where he handles two cards as one, flicks them across the table and they stay perfectly aligned. I used to perform Japanese Aces but used my own variation of the move because I just wasn't consistent enough when it came to keeping those two cards aligned as one. I've managed it a few times but it's supremely difficult. Chevrier makes it look easy. I think it's well worth looking up the effect.

You don't need anything sticky / crimps to do this, just too look away from your hands and talk to specs as you put two cards down face down as one, with just the nearsides lifted towards you slightly by your thumb, then push them strongly forward a few inches with just the fleshy bit of your down turned TT (keeping the cards together as you do this just takes lots of practice, but it's not that hard to do well as has been mentioned) and continue to ignore the two cards until you need them. If you show no importance to them, your specs will not percieve them to be anything other than a single card, and that is the key bit to learn...

I've done this i use magicians wax to make the cards kinda stick together i put a bit on my thumb for a minute whilst im shuffling n stuff then it melts and goes sticky apply it to 1 card then it should stay together as your throwing it + its quite cheap and if you get it right it will never fail :)
