signed cards

I was just wondering what people do with their signed cards?

Do you just leave it in the deck? Throw away that card? Throw away the whole deck even?

Leave the signed card with the spec; replace the one card used from another deck. I think that's fairly standard.

Keeping the signed cards can be handy. If you have a deck of cards with most of them signed, then you can ring in a signed dupe rather nicely...

then the only thing left is the method.

I usually give them out to the spec keep. Sometimes they might get used in a torn and restored card routine.

Do you mean from a working point or ones you use practising?
Working point of view I leave them with the spec as a souvenir, practise ones go in the bin after they've had their use!

Depends who signed it, surely? A pack of 52 celebrity signatures (like Jordan) would be great.

Learn to force a card and have a spares deck which you use to take replacement cards from. As long as you know you are forcing a card you know is still in the spares deck, you have 52 cards to get through before having to replace the deck.

If I am doing a wedding I get get the cards signed by the guests and leave the whole deck with the bride and groom at the end as a souvenir.

I give the signed card to the person who signed it.
I have plenty of 'replacement cards' at home.

Let 'em keep it. You more than likely don't need to replace it right away, assuming that none of your tricks need exactly 52 cards. Even then you can just add a Joker for the time being.

If you are forcing, purchase a One Way Deck. Unless the trick calls for a specific card you will want to get a low value that leaves a lot of white area like the 2's and 4's. Makes the signature easy to see and all of that good stuff.

Use stickers when practicing. Fold over a thins strip (adhesive to adhesive) prior to applying the sticker so that you can easily remove it later. The cheapest stickers you can find are usually the best because they'll usually have the least amount of adhesive. Too much adhesive on the sticker means that some will get left behind when the sticker is removed. This leaves you with a quasi-repositional/R&S surface.

On my list of Things I Should Pobably Try But Haven't Yet is a trick that works along the lines of Locked Deck. IIRC, the working is exactly the same but the presentation and patter changed. The spec selects a card from a deck and signs it. Card vanishes from that deck and reappears in a different deck of cards, all of which have been signed by random people in various inks. Presumably used in previous performances by the magician.

One could also use it with a dup and make the signature vanish/jump/reappear/etc. using any of the million color changes. Similarly, you could use it in a packet trick as well.

Freaking great idea! Good for birthday parties, celebrations whatever, get them signed, put a date on it and you are golden.

I use a marked coin instead. The reaction is just as strong.
