Looking forward to getting my parcel

This arrived on my doorstep this morning.
My first thought upon opening it was... My girlfriend is going to kill me if she finds out i've bought more magic books on the credit card
My second was it seems like more of a pamphlet than a book (At least it's easier to smuggle onto the bookcase). At first opportunity for a break from work I examined it properly, and I must say there is just enough in this book to learn the tarot, nothing more, nothing less. In the space of a half hour break I learned the meaning of all 78 cards, You can not get much better than that
As soon as I've finished reading/studying it I'll post my thoughts in more detail, so far I am very impressed.

Thanks to Tarot Made Easy, I have an interesting and rewarding sideline to my magic, one that's definitely different, and one that I find very enjoyable. It's something that I can do at a moment's notice, only takes 30 minutes or so, and doesn't involve carting around a load of children's props, amps and the like.

If I was asked to recommend a beginner's guide to the Tarot, it would be this one. Personally, I found it easier to combine Keith's teaching with more visual tarot cards (I use Rider-Waite, 1JJ Swiss, the ones included with Keith's course, and my personal favourite, the Robin Wood cards).

Keith's course is very easy to use and straightforward - but this doesn't mean you won't still have a lot of work to do, because you will. Time will still need to be spent learning the cards, and also learning how to do proper professional readings.

Give me a shout if you have any beginner's questions. There were plenty people on here good enough to help me when I was starting this coming up for 2 years ago (I think), so I'm more than happy to return the favour.

Well, I have read through the book and its easy...just trying to decide on what deck to use as this French one is getting on me tits...

This really is a great "in" to Tarot reading, it gives a structure to build on. With regard to "which deck"? I have a couple of favourites but these decks are all individual works of art and I am afraid that CUPS as me firmly in its grip where Tarot decks are concerned!!

I can't do this bloody quote thing so the above will have to do. The solution to the above problem is terribly obvious and easy. It is true that one spread alone isn't enough. So what do you do? Use TWO SPREADS!
Or even better use THREE SPREADS. This is precisely what I do myself.

First you do the pyramid spread with ten cards. One card at the top of the pyramid and four cards at the bottom. Now do the reading. It will take around 10 minutes. At the end ask if what you said makes sense to the client. If you are any good they will say "yes". If you are not so good this gives them a chance to ask if you will clarify anything. You can even suggest (do this sparingly) "Is there anything you wanted to ask me?"

Incidentally you should be very sparing with questions. If you ask too many the client will start thinking " I thought you were supposed to tell me"
That is the trouble with all that Ian Rowland rot and the other fake stuff you read about. Do things the genuine way and you will get far better results.

Now once you have finished with the pyramid spread you will already have quite a bit of information about the client which will help you to do the next spread which I recommend should be the celtic cross which you already know. And this is a very powerful spread indeed. However, it will be even more powerful if you precede it with the pyramid spread as I suggested. By the time you have got this fare (especially when the client removes the cards herself since this can take a bit of time) you will have been reading for 20 minutes.

Again you ask if it makes sense to the client and according to her answer you proceed. If it makes sense you continue to the next spread. If it doesn't make sense you expand on things.

Now to finish off you do the horoscope spread which is a basic forecast of the next twelve months. After all a seer should be able to predict the future or to be more accurate future trends since nothing is cast in tablets of stone.

12 cards are selected here and you lay them out in a circle. Each positioned card represents a month of the year and you figure it out from there. You don't have to be literal and inflexible about the meaning for that month but the card in or near that position should give you some idea what to say.

In addition to all this you use your own intuition and yes, psychic ability, however you define it.

Anyway this horoscope spread will get you another ten minutes thus you have now done a half hour reading. And of course the information you will have gleaned from the first two spreads will stand you in good stead for the final horoscope spread.

There. THAT is how you do psychic readings and the correct format. However, I always recommend reading a person's palm before doing the tarot if you are able to do so. If you do then the tarot reading will be doubly effective and and accurate. And of course it takes up more time which was the subject of your concern.

I personally do a one hour session for clients. There is no problem doing this if you use several divination systems during the session. I personally use the I Ching and Numerology as well as Palmistry and the Tarot to fill up this length of time.

When my memoirs come out (painfully slow process but we are getting there) you can read about how I became psychic in the first place. Not the usual route but interesting nevertheless.

This is as I said an "in" to Tarot reading, not a complete course in the subject. When I started it was what I needed to get an idea of meanings for the cards. I have since bought many other books and take bits from here and there.

But the important thing is that the actual should be as spontanious as possible and should develope in line with the responses you are getting from the sitter.
