Mentalists Challenge... Possible?

Postby Jordan C » Jan 26th, '11, 17:33

Take one popular game show. Take one contestant and 22 boxes. Unlike the real game you do know where every amount is.

Contestant makes free choice of boxes to keep.

Through controls you set up DB style before the game and cues during the game, do you think you could make a prediction of the boxes chosen and in what order ahead of the game and then ensure via your menatlism that that is the order chosen?

Prize is a packet of biscuits of your choice and a tea bag.

Indeed, I've a friend who has convinced himself that DOND is rigged. I couldn't possibly comment on such a belief, of course.

Myself and eveningzoo already have a routine, which has been performed for the last year :)

So yes!

With the sealed prediction in full view at all times? Never touched? The order is genuinely what is written inside the envelope?

Well we don't have a prediction on display, it's more along the lines of the volunteers get to keep the prize in each box. There are no switches or gimmicked boxes, they just bluntly say the box so no weird election proceedure, and they all get what we want them to get!

cool. my OP though is about using 22 people and following the game in the way it is done. No variations in the format, just forced choices in a predicted order with the amount revealed also.

I don't think you can, reliably, force 22 choices in a specific manner - the possibility of failure is too high.

However, there's certainly tons of ways to still have your prediction be correct - all with a sealed prediction on display the entire time.

Depending upon your preferences, you can place the prediction in plain sight and never go near it again, and still be right - with 22 completely free choices.

Me and Beardy do have a Deal or No Deal effect yes. I'll get it filmed and stick a video up at some point.

I have a method by which I could give you an envelope, leave in full view, you can sign it if you so wish, you keep hold. I will never touch it after I have given it to you. We then let the show play out. After the game is played you can open the envelope to be met with a prediction which has;

The order the boxes were opened and the money inside them :)

Is that your challange ?

Certainly sounds close... you could be one tea bag and a packet of biscuits richer subject to verification ;)

you need to think about what you intend on doing, and your limitations because it is clear to me that some methods can' t be done single handed. the method for the envelope idea above for instance, going by the description, could be done very simply, if you had a little help.

Only in the sense that the player isn't chosen at random and rather by the production team who knows who has the big money, so if they want a high winner (if the player goes all the way) they choose them to play.

This can be done single handed, using my method anyway x
