KB Card to Hip Wallet - My Review

Postby garysumpter » Feb 1st, '11, 13:26

Name: Card to Hip Wallet

Price: 35 EUR

Where to buy: http://www.my-magicshop.com/magic-trick ... ennett.php

Creator: Supplied by Keith Bennet

Packaging Quality: The whole package is supplied in plastic Wrap. Usual wallet style and instructions

Instructions Quality: Basic. Anyone purchasing this product should have a basic knowledge of card magic. Only the basic effect is taught but card to wallet is the ultimate climax to an infinite number of card effects.

Contents: You are supplied with the ‘Card to Hip Wallet’ as well as printed instructions.

Prop Quality: The wallets feel very nice to handle. The ‘load’ of the card into the wallet is a ‘palm’ version meaning you will need to know how to palm a card.

Initial Thoughts: this is a nice quality wallet that can be loaded from within a jacket pocket or a trouser back pocket. This is an ideal card to wallet if you prefer a smaller sized wallet or for performing in less formal situations where a larger ‘gentlemen’s’ style wallet would look out of place.

I have used hip style wallets for years and I rate them highly as they look so natural and organic and the load is easy when you know how.

After Playing for a while: Although I own a larger style ‘Mullica Wallet’, (see my review elsewhere) I still have this wallet preloaded with old credit cards and business cards so that I am ready to perform the card to wallet effect in whatever situation I am in. having both wallets ready at all times means I never have to worry and I know that I always have a powerful magic effect to perform.

First Performance: I performed this to a work colleague and I don’t need to tell you how he reacted as anyone who has ever performed a ‘card to wallet’ will know just how strong it is to a lay person.

Overall Audience Reaction: Spot on. Finished with “how did you do that?” x 20 :P

Pros: Looks nice, works well, easily fits in back pocket

Cons: There is a subtlety built in that at first looks out of place but after playing you get used to it.

Value for Money: Well worth it, ‘brilliant card to hip wallet’.

Thanks for the review. I've been looking for a hip-pocket CTW.

I used to use the Real Man's Wallet by Steve Draun, but found the load would occasionally get stuck if I went in at a bit of an angle.

What's the load like here? Any possibility of it catching if angled?

I'd also appreciate knowing the general layout of the wallet ( i.e. credit card slots and note section). I cannot find much info on this on the net.

How does this compare to the new Hip Pocket Mullica Wallet?

I have been thinking about getting a new wallet and now I am on the fence as to which wallet I want. They both seem like quality wallets. For many years I have been using the Jardonnet wallet aka Kaps on Fire wallet. And I am now looking for something different? Hum?? Any advice would be appreciated...
