Cheap book at The Works

Postby russpie » Feb 1st, '11, 14:58

Hi, just noticed a book in a shop called The Works, spiral bound about 25cm square. It looks like it starts pretty easy but I did notice Crazy Man's Handcuffs, Magic Square, Professors Nightmare, Cups & Balls etc towards then end. Not bad as a gift & only £4.99

I bought that one a while back as a Christmas pressie for my nephew. It's a nice book.

It's always worth keeping an eye on the works, some good bargains come up in there.

I think that they closed quite a few of them down, I noticed that the one in Ashford seems to have vanished but Canterbury is still going strong.

They went into Administration two or three years ago so perhaps the store chain had to be slimmed down to keep The Works going?

I think this is the same one I just bought at the same price from Aldi. Well worth a fiver! And just the thing for a junior magician just starting out.

Some little cheapo books are not to be underestimated, I just rediscovered "Card Tricks" by James Weir, great little collection of self workers, classics, key card, SS. I'd recommend that one to any beginner before they even think about RRTCM. Just checked Amazon.co.uk there are loads on the marketplace for £0.01 + p&p, it certainly isn't rare!
