Doing an MC

Postby ajaxjones » Feb 8th, '11, 01:02

Hey
got some MC deal at the weekend and it's based around a big tutting event with a bit of locking and wondered if anyone might have something relevant for effects?

I've done a couple of tutting events, they can be fun - if a little, um, boisterous!

If you do your usual set but add in a little more topical stuff, some gags about the tuttee etc that usually works.

I've got some old lecture notes somewhere that had a couple of bits that would work, I will see if I can dig them out.

And....can I be the second????

EDIT - Ah....

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tutting

"Tutting is a contemporary abstract interpretive street dance style that exploits the body's ability to create geometric positions and movements, predominantly with the use of right angles. It is performed with minute attention to the musical rhythm, typically by altering positions in a stop-and-go fashion. When dancers "tut", they change the angles of their hands and arms in rhythm with the beat. A dancers who does tutting is referred to as a tutter."

I feel very old.....

When I saw the term, "big tutting event", I thought he was just too polite to say, "big fu**ing event".

Me and my gutterbrain, eh?

Myself and a friend managed to drive everyone out of a room at an Amsterdam drum & bass nightclub once. They ended up shutting the bar and room down from lack of business due our 30 minute long dance off.

It involved such classics as The Robot, The Swan from Dirty Dancing and River Dance. Not sure if we did any tutting (as I have no idea what is) but the bar staff certainly were. Needless to say, we are not drum and bass enthusiasts.

P.S. I won the dance off!

I went swimming in the canals there once whilst under the influence, and then later that night the police raided the flat we were staying in. That was 25 years ago. I'm allowed to laugh about it now.

Does this count as OT.
