Blackpool 2011 Hotlist

Postby Mark Waddington » Jan 19th, '11, 14:46

Hi everyone,

With Blackpool only a few weeks away, the hype on the new releases is starting to filter through. When you hear of new releases, please post them here so we can all bask in the pleothora of shiny packaging and props in the run up!

My new DVD should be out in time for Blackpool. Also Lee Smith and Gary Jones have a DVD coming out.

Apart from what Tony has mentioned, does the lack of responses mean that no-one is looking forward to anything at Blackpool 2011??

:D

I have a few things on my list but none of them new releases. One is possibly only available from the US & one of them is a replacement for something i've worn out over the last couple of years. I tend not to go for the hyped up guff that's thrust upon us.

Apart from refills such as f**** paper, a one way forcing deck for Heartless by Ben Williams, a couple of small magnets.
There is nothing else on my shopping list, which for me is unusual but this year as yet nothing as caught my attention.
No doubt when I get there things will change and as usual I will spend a small fortune on things I don't need and will never use.

I've spent very little on magic for the last three years at Blackpool, mainly because there was little which really grabbed at my wallet. There has been the occasional impulse buy, last year it was a nice Brass Monte effect and a 'bargain' or two from the second hand bin on one stall. Main purchases have been books, repalcement TTs, perhaps a few silks but that's about all.

I'm looking forward to see what Labcomagic's new toy is if they are lauching it for Blackpool. As well the new Board for MB mini.

Can't wait.

There is a bumper kids book coming out by Practical Magic, £30 and sample pages on their website.

I don't work for them, they emailed me - I'm getting into kids magic, might go to the kids lectures this year.

Book looks good, but low priority compared to other items.

I made a point of seeing the children's magi lectures last year, Jimbo, Pat Fallon etc. I learned more from them than the other lecturers mainly because they put so much into keeping their magic alive and relevant for kids who, let's be honest, can have very short attention spans and aren't as 'kind' as adults might be.
