Help finding mouth product

Postby occulture » Feb 7th, '11, 09:25

I'm looking for a product I've seen but I don't know what it's called. It's a little thing that you hide in your mouth and when you bite down on it your mouth fills up with a colored liquid. (green, blue whatever) Can you please help me identify this trick. thanks alot

This sounds to be more of a practical joke shop product than a trick. I'd try looking around your local joke shop or party online stores.

Blod capsules are usually available nearer to Halloween but you can make your own from glycerine and food colouring. Try the Home Baking section of your local supermarket - possibly a pharmacy if they don't have the glycerine. You can make little envelopes from thin food quality plastic bags, heat seal them with a heated wire and remember to spit the plastic out as soon as you can!

Would it work to get a cheap packet of paracetamol, the ones with the capsules that split in two? Then you could just get rid of the powder and fill it with food colouring. That way, if you can't spit it out subtly then it would be safe to swallow. Though I would probably add a bit of food flavouring too incase any residue from the capsule makes it taste disgusting!

Some multivitamins are packed in those capsules but the capacity is rather limited. No idea if this would work but how about taking a chocolate liqueur, draning (and drinking!) the spirit from it, filling it with the glycerine mixture and resealing it with a hot knife to melt the chocolate over the hole? It should hold a fair amount of 'blood' and taste nice as well!

PS If I remember right, glycerine has a laxative effect if taken in large quantities.... :?

The best concoction for misting/spraying from the mouth that I'm aware of is used by carnies and rasslers. Here's a vid of Tajiri using it:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tfqwrQpOhls

The liquid is kept in candy wax and doesn't keep for very long so it is a home brew. The longer you intend to have it, the more wax you'll use. Luckily the wax doesn't break down any faster in the mouth than when stored on you. Once used, smaller capsules can be swallowed immediately. Larger capsules usually get shoved between the gum line and cheek.

To get bright colors like the almost neon green that Tajiri used in the vid requires an ingredient that tastes terrible. You can use a soy base for normal tinted primary colors that is neutral in taste. Both methods will permanently stain natural fibers as well as temporarily stain your tongue.

As for the way that Tajiri used it, it's a lil' more versatile than how his use came across. Tajiri's gimmick is that he can't speak English. He could have talked all the way up to spraying id he wanted. He also does this weird thing with thumbing his cheek before and after the spraying. AFAIK, this is just a mannerism of his and does nothing in regards to breaking or delivering.

You can thicken the recipe by adding corn starch but that's a common ingredient in the prank/Halloween type stores. If that's the kind of density that you want then it's cheaper and easier to just buy from the store.
