A point in the right direction needed...

Postby Rob Martin » Feb 14th, '11, 22:30

Guys and Gals,

Hi, I've just joined the forums. Thought I would introduce myself. How you all doing?

Anyway, I'm fairly new to magic. Used to dabble a little when I was much younger then I picked up a packet of cards a few months back.

I have recently purchased the Royal Road to Card Magic - Brilliant book and recommended to me by Mr. Michael Vincent who I must admit inspired me hugely when he made his appearance on the recent ITV show Penn and Teller: Fool Us. He also replied to a message I sent him - which gave me a much needed, little push into making my first steps into learning!

Right - to the point. I am really enjoying studying the book and would be interested in learning other types of tricks - sponge balls and coins

Could anyone point me in the right direction as to good material to study from? The Royal Road is such an awesome teacher and has taught me everything I know about cards - I am not even half way through!

Any help with this would be much appreciated!

Rob :)

Since Lady of mystery has recently left these forums I'll answer in her place.

Complete Course in Magic by Mark Wilson. It has a little of everything and, if studied properly, can last you over a year.

Invoke not reason. In the end it is too small a deity.

oi!! Thats my line.:)

The simple answer has already been given above, But Think about what Kind of magic you want to learn.
Its easy to jump in with both feet, and try to learn bits about everything.. but that can be expensive.

what i have come across today, is an excelent beginners pack from Dude thats cool.

I recon this, plus Bobo, and wilson will more or less give you everything you need to start experimenting.

you're like Yoda.you dont say much, but what you do say is worth listening to....
