just starting to recognise bits of the show. I did see it, but not all of it.
Absolutly loving the show.. Its sad to se so many that have passed on. Recently too. Charles Reynolds, Pat Page, Ali Bongo, Billy Mcomb, and so many more. Just seen Slydini do the torn cigarette. Funny thing is, even though i know how its done.. hell, i do it myself.. it still makes the hairs stand up on the back of my neck.

I am so glad I saw this thread in time. I don't have a TV but phoned my Dad and got him out of bed just in time to ask him to record it for me! :D

The little gem in this for me was the recording of PD's chop cup routine whilst it was still evolving. Was that little monogrammed table one of the ones he sold recently on ebay? Would love to see the full performance, was it Wheeltappers & Shunters, The Good Old Days or something?

Two thoughts, since the show was made how many of those featured have passed away? Very sad.

Also: a whole mentalism section and no mention of DB? Guess this was made jeeeeust before he broke... imagine a similar doc these days not mentioning him

How time does march on...

yes, that was one of the tables that he sold recently.
Derren was around then. Indeed if memory serves, when this show was first broadcast, it was part of a C4 evening of magic, with Barry and stewart, and a derren special. ( seance possibly?)

what i found facinating was Canasta's card trick, and the realisation that i could do it.
I more or less do something along those lines already. :)

Missed it...

Postby friendlyghost » Feb 19th, '11, 12:59

Missed it, thought it would be available on 4oD, but no... Does anyone have a copy and is willing to share? Or can this be bought on DVD somewhere?

I was right, I have seen this before and should already have this on tape. I taped it again anyway :)
Erwin, I may be wrong here but I think the Paul Daniels clip was taken from the programme ''The Secret Policemans Ball''.
Friendlyghost, why not pop over to introductions and say hello :)

the PD cup clip was taken from Wheeltappers and shunters social club.

This series is available on dvd now, and contains many of the clasic turns, most of them long gone. I dont know if the PD Act is on the discs.

Chairs was taken from the magic show.

Thanks Dale. I read reviews of the series DVDs they refer to "W&S favourite Paul Daniels" which worries me about buying the correct series DVD to get the chop cup routine, it rather implies he was on regularly. Must dig a little deeper... :D

he did a few, but all of his standard routines come from his club days. Its well worth getting them all. :)
