Switch Box?

Postby magicj » Feb 20th, '11, 22:06

So, for a show in April i need to switch 80 pieces of paper, for a different set of 80 pieces of paper (or atleast 20 odd).

the only thing i have right now is a change bag (too 'kids') and a clear force bag, which could do the trick but i was looking for a kinda change box / hamper.

no bigger than a shoe box...

..any recommendations?

Cheers

There was something reviewed on the Wizard Product Review not long ago which could be what youre looking for. A billet box which would switch billets. It got quite a good review. Unfortunetely I cant remember the name of the box or the episode it was on. Perhaps someone else will remember seeing it.

this kind of item is so very easy to make.

you will find some dealers selling items, but they will not be sold as a mentalism prop. More for livestock productions, or for silks.

in a book written by Robert Harbin, Aimed at children, is a bot that will do exactly what you want. If you can cut a slit with a knife, 2" long.. you can make that box. That is just about the most dificult part of it.

Use an OM-Billet Box, I have one made from a celeberations tin, it is by far and away the least suspicious looking thing you can use.

I appreciate the craftsmanship of the wooden polished boxes but to me they just scream trick.

Unfortunately I wouldn't get enough use out of a Smoke & Mirrors box to justify the expense.

Many years ago, Kellogs had a "free gift" instruction booklet for making one out of a cereal box. I made two - the other one was from a cigarette packet (my father's). Harbin's box is better, and the OM box better still - if you can find the right kind of box.

Alternatively you could use a large envelope - see Tarbell 5.

Seconded. You won't get 80 billets in I don't think but I wouldn't have any qualms about 20. Talk to Evie, she will advise you.
