Pretty looking cards - suggestions pls.

Postby user24 » Feb 23rd, '11, 17:04

Hey folks,

In addition to being a (very) amateur card trickster, I also love playing poker and other card games. So I'm looking for a really visually appealing deck to use when friends come round to play cards.

I'm not a massive fan of the skulls and gothic designs, so I'm currently looking at the Karnival Ryujin, I don't mind the deck having a few tricks up its sleeves, but nothing that would interfere with regular play.

Something light and elegant-looking would be perfect!

Do you guys have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance :-)

Try www.cards4magic.co.uk they have a very extensive selection of cards from many different manufacturers.

Just to let you know mandrake, your link is broken because there is a comma just after it.

User24, cards4magic does indeed have the best selection so run through and choose any deck you like. One I would bring to your attention you may overlook is Stud playing cards. Cards4magic only have a picture of the box and you may over look them, but I think they're a lovely deck and perfect for a nice game of poker

Thanks, I've just spotted another two on there that look awesome - the arcane white and raider white decks. Thanks for the link :)

mrz0mbie - thanks for the tip regarding the Stud cards!

mandrake - I'm impressed. I've been searching all over the net but I've never seen a selection like that on one site.

An hour ago I wanted a new deck of cards. Now I want three new decks of cards...

These websites are like crack dealers aren't they?

Where do you live user24? You can usually find some pretty interesting looking cards in flea markets.

One other thing, if these cards are going to be used in poker, make sure the distinction between the suits are clear (ie red and black) I once brought a deck where all the suits were the same colour and it was really annoying to play with.

Invoke not reason. In the end it is too small a deity.

I'm in Northampton UK, and yep I loooove flea markets :D

Great point about the suit distinction, especially as I often just play with friends who aren't necessarily 100% familiar with cards/poker. Can't imagine a deck where all the suits are the same colour though - that'd be a nightmare to play with!

I like the Elussionist white ghosts.
Handle really nicely too.
Too expensive as a working deck, but nice nontheless.

Actually, I also have some David Blaine Split Spades, I can sell you, um...
£7 inc. p&p. (pm if you're interested).
David Blaine is the king of spades, if you look close enough.

I'm a fan of the Bee Erdnase, and the Bee Stingers, they look great in play. As for less pretty decks, the Magic Makers decks are some of the worst designs I've ever seen. When I look at the Red Dragon or Black Scorpion decks I can't believe they actually exist!

Thanks KingJeux, that was a very helpful link. Google's so much better than knowledgeable enthusiasts ;)

But you're right, I'll try to make more useful posts in future.
