New Idea

Postby Flood » Feb 27th, '11, 19:55

As this forum never fails for the best advice and information I think I shall ask my question here.

I have a new idea for a trick. It's basically the omni deck idea but having the whole deck stuck together in the sepctators hand for the finale. Before making the deck though I want to know what you guys think.do you think it would be effective from a layman's point of view or would you say it would confuse people more than provoke a reaction?

Try answer this with a layman's mind and not a magician's mind.I sometimes find it hard to distinguish the two in my own head. This is why I post this here.

I'm sure a lot of you will say just try it out and see yourself but I just want to know what you think.

Cheers

Hi,

I use the omni deck all the time and it never fails to get great reactions. Ive never thought about sticking a regular deck together, but no doubt this will get similar reactions. I suggest you give it a go, and let us all know how it goes. Good luck with it.

I don't use an omnideck but I understand it gets great reactions. I say go for it. A deck of cards stuck together seems like a much more organic implementation of the omnideck idea.

As Arkesus noted, Paul Harris has already done the idea. Actually, Paul's "Solid Deceptions" was probably the inspiration for the omni deck...!

Jay Sankey seems to have put a lot of thought into it, actually. I know of at least 2 variations of the "deck stuck together" finale that he's come up with as a variation of Paul Harris' original.

Currently Reading "House of Mystery" (Abbott, Teller), Tarbell, Everything I can on busking

I use the original, and I prefer the original. Without deck switch you can accomplish a convincing ambitious card effect.

Yes, I think it's in the Art of Astonishment vol.1 and is a great, well thought out routine which catches the spectators by suprise.
