Out Of Order - Angelo Carbone - the old ones are the best!!

Postby bradderz123 » Jul 17th, '10, 12:09

An old review by 'Sharktrader' that is archived but as I've only just run across this gem I thought I would resurrect it for all those like me that are newish to magic and must walk around with their eyes shut as it is suggested to have been the most copied magic trick ever! What other gems am i missing?

Angelo carbone's original is still at Practical Magic for £15 - the old review said it all - brilliant!

The Effect

Four bicycle cards are unmistakably riveted together at their base in a four card spread. Their backs alternate red blue red blue and their faces are clearly in order for example 5,6,7,8. They can all turn around but cannot possibly change order because of the rivet holding them together. Before the spectators eyes you turn the cards so that they have all changed places. Impossible! Then you change them back! And you can keep on going as long as you want. You hand the cards to the spec and there is no possible way for them to understand because in their hands they cannot change places. I mean what do you expect, they're rivetted together!

Cost

£15 from www.practical-magic.com

Review

I can't praise Out of Order enough. It may not really sound so good on paper but when I first saw this done I just had to buy it because there is no possible way for these cards to change places without some kind of switch. But there is no switch. What I love about this trick is that Angelo Carbone has created something elegantly simple that you can carry around easily in your pocket. There are no weird moves, it's self-working, the spec can clearly see what you're doing, and they can examine the cards at the end. It's the perfect walk around card trick that's just that little bit different from the regular ones, namely because the cards are pinned together.

Overall

You can't go wrong with this. It's a lovely effect, clean and simple with no fear of anyone working this out. Let those spectators burn your hands, it won't matter. Out of Order is easy to do and there are plenty of different storylines you can use if indeed you want to use any. The effect on it's own is just fine. The instructions, for a trick this price, are fantastic with full performing ideas and suggestions as well as ideas from other magicians. You'll be playing with this all day and fooling yourself. And did I mention the price - it's a bargain!! Out of Order is a little gem and you should go get it. You'll love the trick and the method.

10/10

You really can hand them to the spec at the end?

Yes you can give them out but need to place some control around it - I do ask them not to pull the cards about hard otherwise I tell them the cards might rip off the rivet (they are only cards after all) - if they do as you ask they'll see nothing.

To be fair not many ask to see because as part of the routine you do show the cards from all angles and sides and gain their firm commitment that they are genuinely riveted.

Although the service was quick the trick itself had two listed contents missing. This is not insurmountable but at 17pounds 65 for packet trick!
The trick is well made and does as it says.

Where does one look on TALKMAGIC to find other considered 'gems' that have become forgotten but may still be out there? Or is it a new post?

There's a Review Index at the start of each review section, a bit out of date at the moment but valid up to October 2009.

Just reviving this to make a point. Thanks for purchasing the orgiginal version and supporting the creator and not getting one of the many knock offs around. We creators DO appreciate it. Thank you!

Does anyone know of a valid link as it doesn't appear to be at http://www.practical-magic.com anymore?

Try again - it worked for me. Perhaps an overload problem or something similar?
