...or at least semi.

Giving this some serious thought, but I need to collect some really strong footage for a website launch. For those of you that have set up websites, how would you suggest going about collecting this? Or how have you done this in the past?

I'm doing some charity work at least once a month - I guess having a friend dragged down on a camera is my first port of call, but does anyone have any tips on this? Looking to capture a few strong clips on film and the reactions that follow for the 'wow' factor.

cheers,
alex

I would be intereset instead, if I can, if you drop down some links about this. Just to make up my mind and Ideas on how a magician only website (not a shop website) would be.

I've been a pro fifteen years. I still don't have a clip of myself in action. It hasn't hindered me.

I was looking to book a close-up magician for my wedding, and a video on the webpage really helped me choose between a few performers, gave me a really good sense of what to expect, their style, etc. Just throwing that experience into the mix. I think videos are really useful.

Yeah, adding a video to your site will do wonders. So if you can, I highly recommend it. I also recommend uploading them to youtube too (with comments switched off, of course)

To get them, just drag a friend along in return of a pint or if you can see if the organiser is able/already does it. They could well be willing to if they have the manpower available at the time (afterall, it costs nothing)

Film a lot, edit lots. Upload the best, and make it the best quality you can. If you feel the method can be tipped by using rewind/fast forward (burn your hands etc), don't use the footage or if you can get away with it cut that bit out/go to a crowd shot

If you're feeling really swish or if you're lucky enough to have two friends, drag two along (try and make sure they both have the same type of camera) and have one film the audience and one film you. Then you can edit in audience reaction where appropriate/to hide bits that tip the method

Nowadays most cameras are of good quality, so I wouldn't worry too much about that. iPhones seem to be the most ubiquitous nowadays and the cameras on them (especially the iPhone 4) are top

Remember the sound is important too though, not sure how good the mic is on iPhone. Production values are important, you don't want it to look like it's filmed by a mate in the pub.
