much ado about cards

Postby gnoff » May 24th, '05, 01:43

now, there are plenty of books and videos teching card tricks. forces, passes, cuts, and the like. i recently plurchased a book, a small paper back titled "basic card magic", which covers interestingly enough, the basics of card magic. the book has the likes of the classic pass, the hindu pass, jogging, etc.

however, the book was massivly lacking in "flourishes". i have seen video teasers of card flourish vids, but none so-far has motivated me to buy it. I am preparing for a poker tournoment, and i am dealing at one of the tables. simple little things, maby intresting shuffles, deals, or other things, for fun at the table is what im searching for. i can do the one-handed cut, an extreamly fun move that always gets a reactino from the players, as well as the card spread/flip thing. what book/movie would yall reccommend?

If you want your knuckles to bleed, get one of Brian Tudor's videos/DVDs.
His card flourishes are really eye-popping. Be warned though, most will take plenty of patience and practice!

The Encyclopedia of Card Flourishes is here... I recommend it...
It's is heavy and it costs quite a bit, but you probably won't need anything else...Hope this helps...If you're really in to it, there are companion DVDs too, but i haven't got those yet!

I've just got myself the DAN DAVE SYSTEM and some of the flourishes on there are going to make me hurt. I can feel it just watching the DVD (ooh my poor fingers  )
