Good furnished ny magic shops?

Postby Dudedavid » Mar 6th, '11, 17:06

I have been in ny this christmas and I'd like to come back soon.
I found only one magic shop really cool, big, full of books, routines, with a clever nice magician who helped me a lot during my shopping time showing me (and othe people) a lot of tricks. (but of course, not revealing how to do them XD). I do not know if I can say or post the name of the shop, so I was just wondering, do you know and can suggest some good magic shops in ny city? Thank u very much. :)

When I went to NY a few years ago, I visited Tannen's Magic.

Tannen's Magic, Inc. • 45 West 34th Street, Suite 608 • New York, NY 10001 • Since 1925
Store Hours: Monday - Friday: 11am - 6pm Saturday & Sunday: 10am - 4pm
Phone: 212-929-4500 • Fax: 212-929-4565 • http://www.tannens.com

Why wouldn't you be able to name the shop?

I did not mean to do any kind of advertising :)
Many forums do not allow this kind of info.
But if it's ok the shop is http://www.fantasmamagic.com/

Thank you for your link !

I went to both when I was in NY, with some friends
In Tannens, they didn't bother with us, and the guy was just chatting to his friend in the shop.

At Fantasma, they were really friendly, and some kids came in, and the guy showed them some magic, and then I showed them some magic too.
Fantasma is a nice roomy magic shop, and you can just wander around and look at the stuff if you don't want to buy something straight away, they have memorabilia too, so it's like a mini museum.

Dude, Tannen's and Fantasma are pretty much it, when it comes to Manhattan. There's Abracadabra Super Store on West 21st, but it's geared more towards costumes and gags. I wouldn't recommend it.

Fantasma is a great shop - and it's a great atmosphere. With the Tannen's crowd, it can be hit or miss, but there's some really great guys in there.
