Hi all,

does anyone know what software was used to create the 'speech-to-text' effect on the following youtube presentation?

My first though was something like Prezi but then I wondered whether there was some funky automatic speech-to-text recognition software that I was unaware of... Initial web searches have come up empty.

I'm wondering if it was done by piecing together lots of png files together - the kerning in the letters suggest it was laboured over in something like Photoshop?

I thought it looked more like a flash program. In which you can make text appear and disapear. It is just then animated to the sound, by hand.

My guess would be flash animation - no real way to do it without making each little animation by hand, lol, would take a LONG time, but here is a kind of tutorial which gives you an idea if it helps?

Yeah I thought some kind of video software was being used to create the animations from png files

But yeah Flash, never thought of that...

That's not a speech to text software programme, its been done with a video editing programme with the typed out words set in a certain font that looks like handwriting and then cut and animated to the sound track.

It can be achieved using most decent video editing software by pasting the saved frames into the timeline and cutting them (and on occasion applying fancy transitions) to the speech patterns. This isn't so hard as the waves, peaks and troughs of the speech soundtrack appear visually next to the timeline.

Thanks for all the replies - I'll do some more digging. General consensus at work seems to be it might have been done with something like Adobe After Effects....

cheers,
