Dave Bonsalls Ring Routine Lecture DVD

I haven't seen this routine reviewed anywhere, which is suprising. Dave Bonsall uses it as a follow up to his Ring Flight revolution. It could be used as a stand alone effect but i believe it works better as a final phase in a larger ring routine.


The Effect
After vanishing a spectators ring and reproducing it (Ring Flight recommended) you tell your spectator that you are going to try something else with their ring. This time you'll do it in the palm of their hand. They place their hand out palm up and you take the ring at your right fingertips. You place your closed left fist on top of their outstretched hand. You visibly and fairly put the ring into your left fist and BAM! its gone. It's as close as you can get to having the ring disappear from the palm of their hand. You immediately show both hands 'empty' as you retrieve your wallet from inside your jacket. You open the wallet and remove a sealed envelope from a zippered compartment. The spectator opens the envelope and of course, their ring is inside.

Cost
£10 for Dave Bonsalls Mini lecture DVD that contains the routine. A couple of props are needed. One of them is something that practically every magician owns. The other is something that a lot of magicians have too and involves the wallet. Don't want to say too much as it might tip the method

Review
This routine is the perfect ending for a ring flight effect. Actually i believe this is a lot stronger than the ring flight which is why it makes such a great end to the routine. I think as magicians we love things like ring flight. It uses a great gimmick that is such fun to use (and get away with using). We all like gimmicks like that. We're all boys at heart. Ring flight is a great effect but from a spectators point of view, what happens? The ring dissapears from your hand and ends up in your pocket on a key chain. That is great and very strong magic, but look at this ring to wallet effect from the spectatrors POV. The ring dissapears from 'their' hand and ends up inside a sealed envelope, inside a zipped compartment inside your wallet, that was inside your jacket the whole time. Whats more, they can check that the envelope is sealed and remove the ring from it themselves! That's a miracle! that's signed bill in lemon territory!!


Overall
You may have guessed by now that i love this routine. Dave Bonsall has obviously performed this a lot and really streamlined the handling. This is my first review on this forum and I'm objectively trying to think of something negative to say but can't! It's simple strong magic and a great ending to any ring routine.

I bought a RVR direct from David (Jaguar car keys; I don't even own a tricycle!) and it really is beautifully made.

Haven't seen this DVD so can't comment directly, but from having chatted to David, and from having seen a performance vid of the effect, and from VAGUELY knowing the method, I would be stunned if this wasn't well worth a tenner.

I agree with the above. I bought one a year ago and love it. Use it as a normal key ring and so always have it with me. A brilliantly made bit of kit. The wallet needed from the clip I ve seen of this vid is too big for me it would nt fit in my jeans, but it looks amazing

I'm pretty sure you could use a small Card to Wallet. JOL Billfold or Hip Wallet. Various sizes. That's what I use, easy to load with a card so could be a ring in an envelope instead, for sure.

Where's a good place to buy this DVD? It would be nice to buy it from the man himself direct, but I can't find it on http://www.ringflightrevolution.com/

I use the JOL plus wallet Small. Fits in the back pocket of my jeans/trousers fine (but does poke over the top by about 10mm which makes loading easier!) This is the ideal size if you want to use it for both inside jacket and back jeans pocket. Makes a great everyday wallet and is really well made. The JOL billfold will do the same job (palm to wallet) and is smaller but doesn't have some of the other features and isn't really suitable for an inside pocket. But could be used for that at a stretch.
