Effect Welcome to Harry Robson's brand new wallet that takes the signed card in envelope in wallet principle to a whole new level. Harry has designed a brilliant wallet that allows you to reload the signed card inside another envelope, INSIDE THE WALLET as many times as you like during the routine. YOU DON'T EVEN HAVE TO TAKE THE WALLET OUT OF YOUR POCKET TO RESET THE ENVELOPE AND BEST OF ALL... IT'S DONE IN SECONDS!Harry's wallet also finally removes the main flaw for working pros that want to use a signed card in sealed envelope. The messy reset situation. With Harry's version you can reload the envelope during the routine without taking it out of your jacket pocket and right in front of your audience, ready to go to the next table INSTANTLY READY TO PERFORM AGAIN!
Comments
Well I have had this for a couple of weeks now and held off posting this review until I had actually used it.
I already have an O'Connell wallet and it was the instant reset that appealed to me with this.
First of all I'll comment on the wallet, it is made of leather, but overall is not really a nice thing to look at, the press stud flap is what does it for me it looks really cheap but no worse than other wallets in this price range. That said you don't ever show that side of the wallet so I suppose it really does not matter, but from a quality and looks standpoint it does not look as good as the O'Connell. You also can only get a £5 note in the note section which is a shame, but I suppose this was done so it could be used easily in trousers as well as a jacket pocket.
So having had this a while and practised with it I though it was destined for the bottom draw.
First of all its not instant reset, it takes about 5 or so second to reload (it does say that in the add though) which is quite quick but not instant. The other problem I only found out today when I put my dinner suit on. The envelopes that are set to reload have to go in your jackets ticket pocket, that was no issue I have been practising and have got it down quite smooth. The problem was that the ticket pocket on my dinner suit is only big enough to take business cards so they would not fit. My practice jackets is big enough so I assumed they were all a similar size.
So at the gig I had a quick think and found I could get 6 reloads and the wallet in the pocket, as there were only 6 tables this was ok. So here is the problem I now need to alter my suits or come up with a pocket I can pin to the inside of my jacket to hold the envelopes in.
The other thing I noticed almost straight away during practice is that you can miss the load as the there is only one flap, I came up with a solution which aids loading and missing. If you put a business card in the envelope bent long ways outwards it will hold the envelope open making a miss much less likely. So the business card does not get in the way it can go behind the glued inner flap in the envelope.
The card makes loading easier by making the envelope a bit more rigid, holds the envelope open and is a good way of giving it out!
In use the wallet now loads as well as the O'Connell and can be reset in my pocket, I even forgot to reset it at one table so did it as they signed the card so it does work. I also used my ring flight then ring to envelope, for this the wallet scores well because the opening is much larger (I can get 4 fingers in) than the O'Connell wallet and it loads much easier because the leather is not as stiff.
The other nice thing is that they can remove the envelope because there are no flaps, so it sticks as you remove the wallet from your pocket.
You get 12 loaders with the wallet so you can store 12 envelopes ready to go if you have room for them as I mention above. One slight issue with the loader is that you drop them in you pocket as you remove the wallet, but because you reset the wallet you don't actually take them out the used ones stay in the pocket. Once in 6 times tonight the loader from a previous envelope was inside the wallet when I opened it at the next table which was no big deal really, I just put it back in my pocket.
I seem to being saying more bad than good about this wallet but I really will use this from now on, the O'Connell I will use for cabaret with the wonder unit or when I know I'm only doing the effect once for card to wallet because the load is a bit easier the wallet looks better but the reset is a pain unless you go off into a corner.
The DVD is poor in my opinion as well, I know how to palm so I did't need any instruction but it really is quite short and does not cover everything you need to know about palming misdirecting etc, it assumes you know what you are doing.
Overall I am happy with my purchase it has its faults which I have overcome, and its a shame these were not mentioned on the DVD, but for £39.99 you can't really complain as its half the price of its competition. This is also I suspect aimed at the worker so I suppose there is more than enough info on the DVD and most will know what to do to get the card/ ring ready for the wallet.
RSVP/ Harry please bring out Instant reset 2.0 for £80 which is twice the quality and looks of this version, I'm sure the demand would be there?
